I remember there was a Japanese transfer student that arrived at my school one day. I was his first friend in America and I know this because as soon as I tried speaking English to him he was so shocked and said "Yuu EnRishhh sou guod!" And this was in 5th grade so I was confused on why he was surprised that I could speak English so fluently. And I was wondering how he didnt expect it since he was in America where the majority of people speak English. I still know him now in 8th grade and he speaks English really well and fluently. (Basically what Sora is saying is true. Japanese people will literally think you're royalty because you speak English.)

Honestly if someone said they like to eat American dogs I'd just assume they were talking about hot dogs. They are a very American food, after all. Also for the record the loanword for creampuff is derived from the French "Choux à la Crème" which got shortened to "choux creme".

It's called a PET bottle in Swedish too (PET-flaska) so I would have assumed it's called something similar in English too. A problem with English and English speakers is that there are regional words and expressions, so if you have for instance learned a word from a British English speaker the same word might not be understood by an American, which confuses us foreigners who learn an international version of English.

@@paddan1000ify it’s not called PET bottle in any English dialect. Only by foreigners who already refer to it as PET bottle. In English we say bottle, and people will understand from context if it’s disposable or not. If further clarification is needed we may say plastic bottle. PET is a type of plastic after all. English speakers generally try to use as little precision to convey their meaning for efficiency purposes. Therefore rather than the more descriptive PET (that few people know), we use the less descriptive plastic (but still precise enough for people to understand).

The term PET bottle is very common in Germany as well. We usually say P-E-T though, not pet :D The term is often used instead of 'plastic' for anything made from PET. But we also have our own funny uses for English words. The word 'Handy', for example, means mobile phone in German. This may sometimes cause a bit of confusion, when you tell English speakers that you're getting a new handy soon...

Well, when were taught English in school we were taught that a male hen (I don’t know how to describe it otherwise in this situation) is cock, but you should say rooster. I thought many years ”why?”. Then I understood.

"Polyethylene terephthalate" Maybe that's the meaning of P.E.T. in PET Bottle

PET is an acronym for a clear type of plastic called polyethylene terephthalate. Most water bottles have it in the bottom to indicate they can or can't be recycled. So this is why it's called "pet bottle". I think.
