Hey gang I totally forgot to add the gut shots of the amp in the outro like I planned. I'll try and add them to another video or post them in the community tab on here. My bad on that one.

Hey man! Now that you’ve had it for a bit, do You find yourself reaching for this amp over others or are you gravitating toward something else? The amp sounds awesome but I’m not sure if it’ll be different enough. I have a nova and it’s great but. I almost wonder if the two are pretty similar. Anyway, great video and cheers!

I've known Mike Zaite for many years. He's a great amp builder, and an exceptionally honest and wonderful man. His Z-Lux (souped up BFDR) is still my fav gigging amp and the Z-wreck (Trainwreck) is my fav jamming amp. His amps are all very awesome, and his QC and customer service are second to none! Excited to try out the Octal Six! Fun video, Robert! A+++++

You know, it's easy to forget just how intricate many of Joe Walsh's guitar arrangements are. The intro portion of this video is a good illustration of all the interplay within Joe's guitar parts, and its pretty neat to watch, in all honesty...

You are way too modest, ROBERT! “My guitar skills are limited”. Huge understatement! Your chops and humbleness could hold their own with any of the legends, living and departed. 🙏❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Really dig the Dr. Z sound. Definitely heading out to hear one LIVE. 👍👍 Thank you! 😇

Bet you never thought you'd be listening to Joe Walsh, ramble on about how certain tubes in the various sections of the amplifiers circuits, affect tone? Pretending you have any clue what he's talking about? You need to save that conversation. It's priceless now. Someday it will be difficult to even understand the impact it will have. This one guitarist has been influencing us for decades already. I put Joe with any of the greats. A living legend.

That amp sounds great, I didn't know about it, so I'll definitely check it out! I've been a Dr. Z fan for many years. Oustide of several Marshall and Fender amps, I have Maz 38 NR 2×12 combo with a blue and a gold in it, and a Z Wreck Jr. head going into a Z Best 2x12 cab. I love both!. Thanks for your awesome videos!.

Yeah, the clarity with that speaker is great. The overdrive has a "controlled", but not "processed" sound. I guess the second tube is the main source of harmonics, and there is not much harmonic stacking at all from this amp?

Yeah, shut up Dr. Z you are going to make NOS 6SL7's go up in price. I am a tube amp builder/designer and I agree Octal Preamp tubes have a different sound than the standard 12AX7's, there's this thickness and extra harmonic content. All of the earliest Fenders, Valco's, Gibson amps used Octal preamp tubes. That said many guys would prefer standard 12AX7's they sound way more refined and crisper. I just prefer that lo-fi bluesy tone from Octals. I even like using Octal pentode preamp tubes like the 6J7/6SJ7's. In the early 90's my band opened for Joe Walsh in New Orleans. It was a good show overall, we had to set up in front of their gear which wasn't unexpected but they saw me setting up my talk box which I just used for one fill in the intro and outro of one song but they made me strike it and said " Joe doesn't allow guitarists to use talk boxes when opening" Then Joe stayed on his bus and didn't come out until it was time to play. He came out played his 4 biggest hits and not very well, then walked off got on the bus and left. Everyone was like WTF just happened. Maybe he was out of heroin?

killer amp, killer playing brother! i wish i could trade your right hand for mine! lol but no apologies needed for using the OX. There’s simply nothing else in the world that does what it does as organically as it does it. just wish UA would update it once in a while. then again other than the wonky Wi-Fi connection (which I figured out a hack for if anybody reads this and wants to know, just respond and I’ll reply to you-It works.) Anyhow, I guess the ox doesn’t need to be updated because it came out of the gate with pretty much everything u need and then they did that one update early on and there’s really nothing else you need so I mean anyhow killer amp killer demo the ox sounds great over and out!

Back in the day, Joe was our teacher. He just didn't know it. We'd just go wherever he was playing with his band, The Measles and watched what he was doing. Then he messed it up and got famous with the James Gang so we couldn't watch him for free anymore. And Dude, your skill set is far from limited.

@@scotthowe1972 It's a reference to Joe Walsh lyrics, "My Maserati does 185. I lost my license, now I don't drive". Indeed, 185 dB is about the volume of a sonic boom. 😃

The Acoustasonic guitars get a lot of hate, but at the very least, they're very light, like 5 lbs. SGs are usually light, but sometimes they can be neck heavy. Those cool Danelectro 59M guitars are light. And finally, I think Ibanez makes some good lightweight guitars as well.
