On the "Society gets so offended" thing, there was a parable in ancient Egypt about a scholar and Thoth discussing how written word would make man lazy and they'd no longer remember things themselves as it would all be written down for them. I've heard similar discussions about kids on tablets these days. It's been the same discussion for literally thousands of years

That's pretty interesting lol But also just want to say one of the main arguments is that it leads to children having shorter attention spans due to the immediate gratification aspect of technology and games. Also another fun fact, having Google in our pocket can lead us to be more forgetful with a lack of a need to retain new information and stuff, and when we think, we're like exercising the pathways our brain uses to retrieve memories and when we don't exercise those pathways and just look things up on google instead, it can make either our long term memory or short term memory worse Sorry lol I just find that interesting :D

I've never really memorised a phone number other than my own but people of previous generations would remember their own, their partner's their work number, their kid's school, their friends. As someone who used to be like this at age 13 (I’m 16 now), its mainly because I thought it was funny because of shock value, we’d have battles in our school were one kid would say something bad & everyone would one up each other. Started with “that’s gay”, then progressed into regular use of the F slur, then the N Word. I supported the BNP for 1 year because I thought it made me cool, funny & edgy. This eventually ended with me having counter-terrorism police at my door because I was mocking Manchester Arena victims (including the youngest one). I’m now a 16 year old gay Labour member, grown quite a bit since 13.
