There are a LOT of names for pork things. My husband once ordered Pasta Carbonara at a restaurant and I had to warn him that pancetta was in fact pork Fun story: then he asked the waiter if it could be made without it. Me and waiter exchanged a quick look and said 'no' at the same time 😅😅

@cherachapin38263 ай бұрын
In the USA we have to look out for "mono and dyglicerides" or "tryglicerides" because even though it CAN be from plants, it's typically fats from animals. This can include burned off or rendered fats from cows, sheep, poultry, even pork. It's like the American way of disguising lard. Most prepackaged pastry products and breads contain mono and dyglicerides. It's best to check for a halal symbol, or at the very least kosher symbols. But even if it's marked kosher, it may STILL contain alcohol as in Vanilla extract or could also be listed as All Natural Vanilla, and sometimes just as "natural flavors" Natural Flavors is questionable and would need to be verified by the company and I would not trust them to be honest. I wish I could trust them, but too often I have been told it does not contain alcohol and then later see that it did contain alcohol so I just avoid those foods altogether.

Genuine question, are Muslims allowed to foods that have alcohol added before or during cooking? eg. sauces with wine added. Since the boiling point of ethanol is 78°c, for the majority of those recipes all the alcohol evaporates when it's cooked. Are those foods still haram?
@OMappingneditz13 ай бұрын
Yes. Even if evaporates, it has atleast came to touch, we should avoid it.

You can actually eat Cookies with vanilla extract. It is understood that the alcohol used in this product does not directly contribute to the content of the product and is only used during production. The alcohol used is also very little. The alcohol content used in this product does not seem to have the ability to intoxicate a person, even if they consume that product a lot. The alcohol in this product is not like the alcohol used in some types of chocolate. That type of chocolate is especially sold as "alcoholic". As a result, it is difficult to directly use the term haram when using vanilla on the market in food.

my best friend is muslim and i knew that some religions cant eat pork but i forgot that muslims cant eat poek either. so one day i was eating sushi that had ham in it and offered one to my best friend (i already said she is muslim) and she ate it. she had neber had pork before so she didnt know what it tasted like. she asked what was inside of the sushi as she was chewing it and we got so scared when i remembered that muslims couldnt have pork. she was super stressed and i comforted her by telling her that she was human and made a mistake and that it was my fault. dont worry guys Allah doesnt hate her ❤

I just didn’t want to say how long it was) don’t eat gummy’s unless u know for sure there’s no gelatin or pork in them😂

I have a question, if someone accidentally gave you something that had vanilla or lard would you rather have them tell you or not tell you?
@Kingsley48513 ай бұрын
I am Muslim and I would rather them tell me if they realize the accident. It allows me to avoid that food in the future and ask for forgiveness for making a mistake of not making absolutely sure that the food was permissible before I ate it. An accident like that likely is not counted against us harshly during judgement because we truly did not intend to eat something forbidden, especially if we ask for forgiveness and especially if we do everything we can to avoid it again once we have learned. What we do/don’t do in life is very important in determining our character, but what we truly INTEND with our actions is equally - if not more - important during judgment day.

Vanilla extract IS haram. It's made with 34% (or higher) alcohol by volume (American standards. Could be different if you live outside the USA) Also any packaging that says "Natural Vanilla Flavor" this is also another name for alchohol except it may not be 34% so it's technically not Vanilla extract

An intro since you stated that you didn’t know much about the religion of Islam. Islam, a religion of Monotheism, they believe in one God and believe that prophet Muhammad (saw) is the last and final messenger. Islam by literal definition is submission to the will of God. They also believe that Jesus (pbuh) was a prophet sent by God as well. God sent down the *Gospel* (Injeel) to Jesus (pbuh), Muhammad (saw) the final messenger received the Quran. In Islam and other Abrahamic faiths. Pigs are considered unclean which shouldn’t be eaten. Though, in Islam it’s only okay to eat it when you’re starving and it’s the only thing you can find.
