Dylan is my espn analyst, no one in the media was talking about Hardens' situation. Thank you for shedding light on that. I remember the nets wheeling him out for that series, then we got Stephen A. Fraud talking about how he had 3 stinker games. Not to mention all the "load management" crying. This is why the league needs to lower the amount of games played per year.
@Jonathan-A.C.
@Jonathan-A.C. 7 күн бұрын
I don’t agree about lowering games, I’d just rather have players actually missing time if they need to heal. And it’s disgusting how it’s all revenue based. Lower the seat prices if top guys aren’t playing, and lower them generally anyway. It doesn’t matter if the league and guys make a couple million less than the millions they already make, I just want an enjoyable basketball experience

In an effort to try to help his team AD came back to early and he reinjured himself and he couldn’t finish the game. Thankfully he didn’t suffer a season ending injury but still he could have. Kawhi pretty much sacrificed his entire career for that one championship in Toronto. Before the 2024 season, he was never able to play at least 60 games for his entire Clippers career. The last time he played 60 regular season games was back in his one year with the Raptors, where he won his second championship. Nick Nurse even talked about this on Draymond’s podcast during his first meeting with Kawhi, who told even told him that “I’m going to play to win it all. I’m gonna do that for one year. After that, I’m not sure what’s going to happen.” Now granted, he was talking about if he was going to stay in Toronto or not, but looking back, I’m wondering if he also meant that he wasn’t sure if he could continue giving it his all with his damaged knees.

In European basketball, no player was more eager to play through injury than Vassilis Spanoulis. He was impossible to stop from 2011 to 2013 and then he played through a serious ankle sprain for the National Team during the 2013 Eurobasket. He was never the same player after that. He was still great by Euroleauge standards, but he no longer was the force of nature he used to be during his prime. He retired in 2021 after tearing the achilles tendon of that same injured foot. Twice.

I was a fan before that. Actually started being a fan then (of any team, it was my first NBA game that I saw live), and it was ruined like that. I’m still a fan of them, at least the players and especially Tatum and Brown, but that organization sucks. Now, a lot was on that stupid as GM (who’s on the Jazz now, I believe), but I still didn’t feel like completely celebrating their championship like a fan would. It's really sad that the teams and also the fans expect these players to play through injuries, risking bigger injuries, otherwise they seem weak. I think very big part of it is the number of games per season. I mean, seriously, 82 is insane. In Europe, they usually play 2 games a week, one in the local league and one in the European league. It's not like they sit around and do nothing the rest of the time. They practice, so you actually build a better team because they bond, they learn to play better with each other, they practice different plays. This way, you get to the playoff with your best players able to play. Everyone wants to see a good playoff. A good playoff includes the best players in shape, not exhausted, not injured (mostly). The best of 7 is also insane to me. In Europe, we have the best of 5, which is enough in my mind. I know old timers will say, well, it's always been 82, and the players managed just fine, and I don't know what's different in this era, but it's just a fact.

The Kawhi situation might not be right. The 730 days of recovery came from is conditioning coach, while the doctors said that he'd be fine much sooner. Of course 2 Years of resting is better than 1 or half a year, but so is 3 years or 5 years. In european football (soccer) players start playing again, after suffering an acl tear, just months after it happening. More rest is always better, but if you're a star player and get payed millions to deliver, there often is no other option.

Facts. Rob said so himself. Also, he was out a lot during his last season, the team gave him the time to recover Then he got traded when he was having his healthiest offseason and got injured playing for the Blazers, he's making it look like the Celtics sent him already injured to Portland

This attitude is why players do this. If they don't try to come back early you'd call them cowards.
