The Nord has been really good for trips where I want to cover a lot of ground, but am not carrying an axe. If you needed to cut up some dry, fallen branches for a fire, or build a shelter, you could do that, and the Nord will excel as with food prep and basic trail/camp chores. It is reasonably light and rustproof, a really good companion on the trail.

I had my order in the second this knife went public, after years of badgering Helle about making a larger, full tang knife, with a bigger handle. I have been using it heavily ever since. It was great for camping trips last summer, and I use on the trail quite a bit. It limbs as well, or better than some bigger choppers because it is so slicy. My only complaint has been that one side of the handle was shaped a little too round - more round than the other side. I had to sand it down and re-oil it, but that is not unexpected with a semi-production Scandinavian knife or tool. My Nord has held an edge remarkable well. I run a ceramic rod over it from time to time, and strop it on my pant leg between uses, and just keep it sharp all the time. Surprisingly light relative to the amount of chopping it can do.

Finely handcrafted knives, with a sharp edge that lasts for years and years. Perfect for fishers, hunters, bushcrafters. Stainless steel, which is softer, so the knife can survive in the damp country of norway. Americans/dutchmen: is this an axe?

seriously doubt they're handground, considering you can still see the CNC machining marks on the bevel :) their fit&finish and QC is quite lacking. i have an Utvaer, which came to me very asymmetrical (both handle and blade) so i sent it back to get it replaced, supposedly handpicked the best example they had by the owner (was communicating with him the whole time), and what i got was far from perfect (and the birch handle pattern way less attractive than what i sent), with a loose sheath (you don't even have to shake it, just turn it upside down and it falls) beautiful designs, but poor manufacturing

@@The_Northerner yeah I know what you’re saying, but its just hard for ME to comprehend somebody buying/paying a 240$+ knife and it NOT BEING a Bark River or even something more high end…I mean would YOU personally buy one of these 250$ Helle Nords in 14c28n over a MagnaCut/Cru-wear/3V Bark River for the around the SAME price +-20$ depending on model? I’d take the American made/warranty/Amazing steel/fit&finish/convex grind Bark River Bushcrafter, Gunny, Aurora, or Bravo EVERY TIME
@clintwestwood3539 Жыл бұрын
@@shadeshiest22 Why would you buy a Bark River tho? It’s like buying from China, but instead of supporting a communist regime, you are supporting Mike Stewart, a crook like his father before him, that used to scam people by selling O1 marked as CruWear and A2 as Magnacut. A guy that, when exposed, threatened to physically harm and sue who exposed him on public platforms like Twitter or bladeforums. The same guy that under treats every steel or doesn’t hold up to his own warranty. Using “Bark River” as comparison to build an argumentation, it already makes it flawed.
