My boss gave all of us a five 2 years in a row, he got in trouble for giving us 5s.

Why ?
@HistoryGe3k3 ай бұрын
Why would you even bother trying to achieve a 5 if it is unachievable and never given???? It is like chasing a rainbow for the pot of gold under the end of it. It is like trying to catch a Green Leprechaun, a Winged Pegasus, or a Unicorn. So why even bother?????

As she explained, but didn't fully say. It's to give employees a false motivation to work ever harder than what management wants to pay for, dangling a fictional prize in front of you in the hope that competition will motvate you to do more than what you are expected.

@@Mikethemerciless11 - well that pot of gold is finally mine because the end of the rainbow is only one hill away........

If id get a 3-4 regardless of how hard/ efficiently i work, i would only put in that effort for what i got. If that means i only got 2 stars or less despite meeting all the criteria for 5, theyd better be prepared for 2 stars worth of effort. What would they do? Write me up for doing the bare minimum? Okay, enjoy replacing me with the guy who cares even less and still demands more pay.

Sounds like PTA meeting. Room for improvement. Progress report

They rate people's performance between 1 - 5. If you get a rating of 5, you will get a 5% increase in pay. However, rating of 5 is never given. It isunattainable. This means that you will NEVER get the promised increase of 5%. I want to know what is the pass rate. I want to know what increase you get at the various ranking points. Because she rated 3.5 to 4 across the board, she will only get a 3% increase. This means that they will probably never give an increase over 3%. Sounds like BS and manipulation to me.

It is, but what businesses would fail to realize is if they're going to give only 3-4 tops despite deserving a 5, all that's going to do is discourage the effort they're putting in. What's the point of maximum effort/ efficiency when you'll only get rewarded for 60-80% tops? It would only make sense for the employee to only then put in 60-80% of that effort.

@@darkharvest8098 - exactly my point. What is the point of pursuing a rating of 5 if it is not attainable. Best to settle for a 3 or a 4 and not stress yourself over their BS and manipulation.

In my previous jobs I would have been jumping for joy if I got 3%. The above statement illustrates how bad I've been taken advantage of my entire work life. There was the one time like the video where I could get the illustrious 2.6% but I unfortunately got the 1.8% because I didn't have 5s.

I was a high school math teacher and we all got 3.5 out of 5 for the same reason. No 5's allowed because it could have been better

Well this is about as relatable as it gets. I asked the exact same question to my boss and got just about the same answer. I am no longer with that company

Glad I could lead the way with new style projects (previous leadership in the company have not done) with little to NO instructions at all!!! but I still get it done, while teaching new hires and providing instruction to contractors, creating new documents for contractors. Contractors that they just send to the job and don’t even tell them what the job is! Also I’m to log everything I do so they can use that info to show senior managers of the company HOW I DID IT. O now senior management can lead these projects!? Glad I could make it easier for the ppl above me! No recognition or respect. My review goal, know 100%of the job. My boss gives me a 2/5……………………

'So just to let you know, from now on I will turn in my projects just a bit too late. Huh why would you do that?? Well it seems that you always want to have room for improvement, so I will turn in my work a few days too late, so you know that there will always be room for improvement!

If we are gonna grade it like that, then 5% would mean that you had done 100% of every assignment with nothing left to be desired. So the logical thing to do would be to ask the manager what exactly you didn’t do that resulted in a deduction of marks. Since “everyone can always improve” surely they have also prepared a review of things to improve upon.

He needed to start his own company. Being an honest boss is not what this company supports so if he doesn't start his own business he should have at least strive very hard to leave this co. or any other that would penalize him for his honesty and for honoring his employees that he felt earned the top score and was hard working. It's not that the score is unattainable is that it's a marker use to justify why the employee never gets the maximum pay increase that he or she deserves. These are just some of the ploys that many co engages in to avoid doing right by their workers and yet these are the very ones who gets the big tax cuts and other deductions while they rob their employees blind and refuse to pay them what they have earned. According to Martha Ann Alito, vergogna!
