5:08 Pokémon games do actually exist, or at least are alluded to exist, in the Pokémon universe. In several games you can see kids battling/trading with a gaming device. In Sword/Shield a lady makes a reference to Pokémon GO. GameFreak also exists in the Pokémon world. You can visit their office in Alola and you can even battle GameFreak Morimoto in many games. It’s kinda freaky too because they can get meta with it. I recall one saying something along the lines of “you hear that? I composed that music” referring to the background music. Nintendo also exists in the Pokémon games. Your character always has the latest Nintendo home console in their room. You can even see Mustard playing Pokémon Quest in Sword/Shield’s DLC. Even Penny refers to it as a “Nintendo Switch” directly.

4:54 funny thing is that's kind of what og Pokemon was planned to be. There was still the catching and trading aspect, but there was no battling whatsoever. Each game cartridge was going to be individually designed differently, like snowflakes no 2 would be the same, to promote you interacting with friends and trading more. Until last minute Nintendo said nah that dumb, add fighting mechanics, so they got inspired by Earthbound and gave Pokemon RPG mechanics. This is the 3rd thing that makes and inspired Pokemon to be Pokemon. Without this element, Pokemon would be completely different today, and honestly that's probably what they tried to capture with the Let's Go PE games, why there was more so a push in leveling up via catching and less battling. Along with um... yeaaaah back in those days, the snowflake concept waaaay to much for the gameboy to handle lol, way too big of a pipe dream. So that concept was gone pretty quickly, but still semi kept in with the creation of different versions, Red and Green, then eventually Blue for outside of Japan to replace Green, and eventually Yellow that was inspired by the anime.

Delphox has literally been my favorite pokemon since Kalos. I've played at least one of each generation since Red when I was like 4 y/o. i think in the world of pokemon people either play: - board games, mostly chess (only pokemon), and any form of DnD is just recreations of the ancient poke war - videogames, that aren't much diferent from our own, HOWEVER, the shooter game genre, rather than letting you use guns, you're fighting using Water and Steel type pokes (although if you're REALLY lucky in the loot crates, you might also use Dragon types) - they just throw balls at pokemon, be it to capture, or for them to fetch

They do in fact have video games in the Pokémon universe. In every single main line game inyour player character's room has the at the time what ever the latest Nintendo hardware was. IE a: Wii, Game Cubes, Switch, or what have you. I think in some games there are lines when you interact with the console that hint that it has some other Nintendo game like Breath of the Wild or what have you.

They're also um... ehhh sure genies... well technically they're inspired by djinn evil genies but even more so inspired by Japanese kami, gods, Thunderus and Tornadus are Raijin and Fujin respectively, Landorus is Inari, buuuut Enamorus not sure. HOWEVER the references don't stop there lmao, they're also all 4 inspired by the 4 auspicious Chinese beasts, of the compass directions... I forget which is which, but Black Tortoise and Vermillion Bird are north and south, Azure dragon and white tiger east and west. I think Tortoise is North and Tiger West? meaning Dragon East and Bird South? Which is what their Therian forms are based on, while the Incarnate forms are the Kami/Djinn.
