Back in 2013-2014 I rented a van from Enterprise in San Diego, and to my surprise as I was about to start using it to haul some stuff from one location to another, I found approx. 16 large drug bricks of marijuana with Santa Muerte imagery on each brick I could see in the compartments where you fold the seats. I called the cops immediately, and dispatch literally asked me to drive it to a police station. I said hell no, you need to come claim this -- I wasn't going to risk getting stopped and then risk having to explain it regardless if that dispatch call was recorded. They told me it would be a while until they could send someone. I had to wait 2 hours for these guys to come to my location, and the second the cop sees it, suddenly there's 5 more cars in the parking lot. So when I see someone with a rental literally like "I don't know where that came from" I don't immediately discount their story. The best part? Enterprise didn't even offer to comp my rental when I'd explained what happened. They offered me a discount.

That guy didn't give a wet fart about that lady and her kid. He "knew" he was going to find something in the car as soon as he pulled them over, and their argument about an illegal search was somehow additional proof that they were guilty. He then went to trying to get them to admit on camera that they were guilty. There was nothing friendly about it - he was trying to elicit a confession. He also likely didn't have probable cause to be searching their bags in the trunk. He claimed that there was an odor of marijuana in the cab - the mom had a medical card, which explains that entirely (and they had no evidence that she had used it in a state where it wasn't legal). Searching the trunk based on a supposed odor of marijuana in the cab makes no sense. I'm not pro-drug runner, but I am anti-bad cop.

For real. Here in Australia they don't even show up many times and get annoyed when you call them. There was a restaurant in the heart of Melbourne that had thugs smashing windows and threatening owners who were barricaded inside. Cops told them to hide and call them back later if they're still there. My apartment is in the same area and some dude was caught on camera trying to break in. Cops didn't want to even file a report or look at the security footage. They rarely show up for active home invasion calls either. Welfare or missing person reports barely get attention unless it's a big media case. But get caught speeding, protesting, reporting about corrupt politicians as a journalist or defending yourself against a violent attack with a weapon and half a dozen squad cars will show up within minutes here. All our police just got a massive pay rise too recently ironically enough and are widely hated these days. The two cops in these video that actually cared are a rare breed in many countries.

@ColonelForkEyes Жыл бұрын
@@SVD_NL Agreed but then you've got to wonder if it's as simple as that. In these kinds of situations if somebody fcuks up, their family often has to make it right. I can easily envision a situation where, say, Sena's father or brother was dealing on the street for the local boss, who fronted them a KG to sell, expecting 20k cash to come back the next day. That hypothetical family member got busted or robbed, so now they owe the boss 20k. The boss approaches Sena and his mom saying "your family member owes us 20k. Either pay us the 20k plus 1k interest for every day it's late, or you can drive this car from A to B for me, we'll let your brother/father go and we'll call it quits. If you don't pay us the money by whatever means, all three of you pay the ultimate price" Put it this way, in all the times you've seen highway patrol busts on TV, how often is it a scared-looking teenager and his mom who looks mortified by the whole thing? I'm pretty certain that they would have been doing this under duress, not for profit. Like you say, 20k is minimal financial recompense for the risk level of transporting that value of merchandise.

I've been stopped by the cops over the years or had spot checks. They come to the driver's and ask me questions. I'm very polite. They view the dash and inside to see if there is a beer can or whatever. We do banter to see if I'm drunk or under the influence, and then bring it to end and I'm on my way. I think I saved myself a lot of problems over the years by giving up on drinking and doing drugs or grass. One of the compelling reasons why I don't drink at all is because when I was in the Army, I saw how a Sergeant (E5) destroyed his life by not only DUI but swerving into the oncoming lane and killing a 21 year old female. He got 18 months but he has to wake up every morning realizing he killed a very innocent person.

@@katieoh9557 You're right. What happened during the trial is three things: 1) His immediate commanding officer came and testified that he was an outstanding soldier and how this whole thing really destroyed him. 2) During the trial he showed remorse and it was genuine. 3) He hired a lawyer instead of getting a military lawyer. The lawyer right from the start had something changed in the charges that would insure he would get less time. But the Judge did feel sorry for him. Again it's something I don't have to go through of thinking about how I killed someone.

This is really hard. The guys has obviously some mental issue. It can be he is on the autism spectrum, or he can be just "slow". This can be again caused by different factors, he could have been born like that or he could have been abused as a child. As you can see the place he grew isn't something that would give you a path to prosperity. It is also connected to drugs. If he was a sniffer, that eats your brain out really fast. Physically make you holes in your head. With these people, they just are aggressive sometimes cause they can't figure out situations like thinking people and it overwhelms them. That doesn't mean they kill their moms. What I see here and what probably really happened is, that she really died there and since he is complete dum dum he just haven't noticed anyone cause the situation was too complex for him. For that he served the 63 days. This guy is already punished enough, sadly. It's a lost cause. We as humanity still fail to save people like him - if that is really what happened what I see there.

There’s a reason for it. Many police departments found that having officers paired up resulted in a “buddy-cop” hero syndrome, where they would take on threats greater than they were capable of dealing with. Oftentimes refusing or neglecting to call in backup. By having the officer be alone it removes that feeling entirely thereby making it more likely for him to call for backup. That lets dispatch and other officers be aware ahead of time about what’s going on. I’m not an expert so I can’t say which is better, but it’s not an arbitrary decision
