I would much rather spend 15 years in prison for a crime I did not commit than to take someone's life, accidentally or otherwise, and get away with it. It is called 'morals', and I have them. Also, because I would be imprisoned for something I did not do, there is a chance that I could get some sort of reparations afterwards, for being accused of something I didn't do and spending 15 years in prison for it. Like a large monetary settlement, perhaps. I would lose 15 years of my life, but at least I would know in my heart that I am innocent, and that there would be an excellent chance that I would later be found innocent of the charges and given a large monetary settlement.

What the heck are some of these criminals thinking? Do they honestly think that they are totally going to get away with stealing cars, shooting at police officers and other random members of the public? Do they think about the repercussions of their actions beforehand, or are they too dense for that? Naturally, they are always going to be caught immediately, and end up in prison. Is that what they wanted to accomplish for some reason? Their goal in life is to be imprisoned for the remainder of their lives, with no more freedom or any kind of privacy ever again. No privacy when using the bathroom facilities, or anything else. Is that really what they want so badly? It is just so bizarre that some people operate like that, and never think about the repercussions of their criminal actions BEFORE committing these stupid and thoughtless crimes!

The trouble with that is that if a scumbag has 2 strikes, commits a 3rd non violent crime, he may as well roll the dice & kill any witnesses bc it's a life sentence anyway.
