OK- 8 week old BC has mastered weeing in the toilet area- but as soon as off lead to play then eliminates in the children's area... Help me! Do I tell her 'no!' or ignore it... we cannot master this part. Any help much appreciated.

Took around a month for my Collie x Golden. I was lucky as he got the hiccups every time he needed a poo, only had two poo accidents since I brought him home. It was the peeing that took a month.

You mention a huge difference that is very important, yet underestimated: a dog that never has an accident or a dog that does its best not to have an accident, but at a given point has no other option. Again we are at the stage: who's fault is it? The leader or the dog? In 99% of the time it is the leaders fault! I'm even crazy enough to get up every night, every hour to let the puppy out. If it where a child, wouldn't be different: get out of your bed, don't be lazy and swallow the pain: get up and feed your baby or let out your dog. The puppy is only a limited period of time, so is a child that needs to be fed. Not forcing him or her the be forced into failure of "HAVING TO", while "NOT WANTING TO" because you are to "lazy". (i know, easier said than done) You wanted a puppy? Deal with the side effects, PERIOD!

I'll get my first ever border collie in a week (8 weeks old). I'll try this potty training technique, but I have a question, if I may. What do I do at night? I know, take the puppy out before heading to bed, but during the night? Should I just sleep and hope the puppy sleeps through the night as well? Should I take her out every hour at night as well? What should I do? Thank you very much for the help in advance!
