My border collie “Snowdog” is hands down the best dog I have ever owned. This video is so true. They are very energetic but can be chill too. They are EXTREMELY loyal to their master and you will become their world, after time you will almost read each others minds. Their intelligence is unmatched. I have 4 acres, and it is a must that they have room to run. I don’t have herds of sheep, but yes, they will show this trait. Spend time with them, love them, they will without question become your best friend and protector. It is the only breed I will even own again.

I've never heard so much word salad about collie dogs, there are 4 commands apart from "come here" and "sit" these are "come by" "away to me" Lie down and "stand" or "wait" that's it once the dog knows these words it's dead easy to be a shepherd, I put the commands on a spread sheet and E mailed it to my collie dog, I usually txt as I cant understand her on the phone even though her English is ok, once the dog has studied the commands and assures you she's comfortable with them you can take her into the countryside and look for some sheep, she is better at spotting the sheep but again her directions are no good so I usually let her drive the land rover, it's ok dont panic she ain't got a license but we are on private farm land, dont know who's land but its private! Anyhow I've explained the basics so if you are having trouble you can DM myself or Meg at your convenience. Thank you! 😎🤣🤣🤣🤣🖕🖖

Border collies are very hard work as a puppy but once they grow up ,they become the best dog ever Iv got two now 1 15 years old and the best pet ever and a new puppy and she is hard work im taking time off work to get that dog ready, and she is hard work . Th3y need a walk every day or a blow out and my old girl has not needed much exercises for a few years now just going out with the people is enough, but 5h3 puppy at 12 we3ks ne3ds a wee walk and that will be increased every week ,but I have a motorcycle and if im tired a slow trip around the nabourhoods enough, dont run them hard ,im training the puppy to follow the bike they love it

Border collies mostly do not, and should not, work from dusk till dawn on the farms! It's cruel. They will be overworked and their joints will be worn before they even reach their senior years. On the most hectic days of moving sheep they might be working up to 8-10 hrs, but any farmer who cares at all about their dogs will give them a rest day or two after a few days like that. There's a reason pretty much all sheep farmers with a decent amount of life stock have several dogs. They rotate dogs so not to overwork them. I've heard you should ideally have one fully trained herding bc per 100 head of sheep. 2-3 hours of work for a bc and they will be happy for a day. Most do also have rest days.

bla bla bla, get to the point....I didn`t get any answers that I didn`t know before. Of course any owner know about exercise and stimulation! That isn`t the problem, the problem is when we owners are away from our home...any dog owner knows this!!! And no, don`t blame it on us...

Yeah I accidentally got a gold border collie listed as a “golden retriever mix” and she was 8-9 months instead of 2 years. I wasn’t fully prepped for how much energy she would have. But we are just getting more stuff for mental and physical stimulation and she gets sent to a play group once a week with lots of running in the yard time. But she still has a ton of energy

Have a blue merl 100 percent border collie beautiful dog. 7 dogs in the house no problems with him and the female dogs in house . But has issues with the two males. He’s 1.5 years old. Seems to be a pack posistion issue . Fights with our heeler x German Shepard who is the lowest ranked in the pack. Try’s to boss him around also our 13 year old pitbull tried to fight him which didn’t work out well for him. Really smart dog but seems to really trying to find his rank in the pack

I had two border collies they would take off and go to and herd at the butcher’s and would roundup and separate the animal that was up for the slaughter. On other days when I went out to the car to go to work they’d have a deer pend in the yard. They never hurt any animals and the butcher would even call me when it was killing day and could I bring the dogs over. No training.

Not just a comment about this video, haven't even got past 2mins prior to commenting but fml not only are your videos super clear/concise & give me the confidence to use your techniques on my dogs, the production quality is epic. Kudos to whoever does the editing! Had found your videos originally through working on pulling issues but a 3rd dog in the house has sent me straight here! Thanks for sharing your passion with us! :)

I always adored this dog but always .. breeders kept scaring me how extremely active the breed is etc so didnt get one as my first dog may have one in the future since would love to have running buddy and Im interested to teach tricks! also do camping during summers taught my chihua 15 tricks so far he is super smart! how many hours border collie require exercise and time with their owners daily? I spend with my chi around 2-3h daily, taking him to dog park where he play with others dogs and sometime will teach him tricks there too just asking so I could get realistic view if my activity level fit with this breed or if I should consider other ones love white shepherds too!

Spot on, I'm just about to start my search for .your fourth BC over the last 30+ years. Incredible animals, very loving and keen to please, the BC's I've had were a dream to train. This is my last BC, what a dog, she was put to sleep at 14, after a very short illness. Miss her so much.

My first dog was an Aussie, my experience was wonderful. The Aussie is energetic and intelligent, but with early crate training and a good amount of daily exercise and trick training, they are calm and easy in the house. I recommend an Aussie and hope to get another one very soon as my second dog! Great video, thank you!!

The cat and the rabbit were acting as if on alert so I went outside. It was early morning and a cold front had come through leaving cold and mud behind. I followed the cat's gaze and there under my sailboat trailer was a Border Collie pup, cold and shivering. I am guessing she was 9 to 10 weeks old. 9.5 lbs when I weighed her. Oddly enough her tail was docked and later while cutting her claws I noted she has no forward dew claws. Are some born without or were they cut off too? She is a brilliant dog and intelligence shines from her eyes. She loves to bite me though - working on that but it is slow as I am being gentle.

Gonna give it a shot. We rescued out Collie and now it goes into a corner and if we get close teeth come out and occasionally will lunge. So lets see if these techniques will help redirect, make our collie more at ease, and teach him the right thing to do.

I do believe that is a Slow Eating Bowl for dogs that eat too fast. A Puzzle Bowl has little trap doors, lids that slide, buttons to push that releases food, puzzles to solve.
