I grew up having my mother cut the leg off an old pair of jeans and sew it onto a better pair the knee had worn out of . Looked stupid and the stitching around the leg made them uncomfortable but it kept the wind out in winter . My father would hammer sewing pins through the stitch holes around the edge of by boots soles and bend them over to seal them down on Evo Stick glue between the material and the sole when they started coming apart . I'm 60 now and still have a cupboard full of old worn out jeans - just in case i ever need to repair any . Stack em as high as you like - bet i'm wearing the last pair on the planet .
