I too expected to hear close to original as it could using looping. The speed of the guitar is not my cup of tea which is why I love Gilmour so much. However, this is not a performance by Floyd, this is a talented improv cover of a Floyd song. Because so many have become that Brick In THe Wall. I have been watching this guy on You Tube the last few days and subbed to his channel as he is bloody brilliant but, like you say, so many people just wander by, even looking at him, some with a measure of disdain. The same type of people who only watch the top 10 TV shows in the charts and listen to nothing but the most popular mass produced music as that is what they are told to watch and listen to. A whole galaxy of other brilliance is blinding them but they can not see through the fog that has clouded their minds. I am 60 and discovering new music every week. The latest fav is a German band called Sea Surfer with a song called "Dragon Song" which is simply superb. Slowdive is also worth a listen, especially "Golden Hair". Both bands come under the genre known as Shoegaze, Slowdive basically inventing it.

Good buddy of mine lives a few blocks away from where he was playing on 2nd street. I go to downtown Nashville to visit my buddy- play golf and head out at night to the downtown area. As a bass player/ Musician- not taking away from the players playing in the bars and clubs- everything to me seem very cookie cutter, very similar cover song setlist, playing the songs as close to the record as possible, then the lead singer walks around with a bucket, and shows you a list of songs and for $20 they will play the song you want to hear on that list. My ears and my eyes and my soul does not feel that emotion from all the bands I have seen down town NSH (very few) as DØVYDAS playing is. This guy is a true musician because he can take songs and make it his own because he knows how to play with Harmony by means taking the songs Chords ( I, IV, VII)- know what modes ( Dorian, Phrygian, etc..) and scales( Pentatonic/Pentatonic minor) etc... to use in his playing within the song., while playing with passion for the love of his instrument. This dude is a special player, and yes- people should stop and take a musician like this in the moment and be open to more than what they need to do.
@greengrass10722 жыл бұрын
@@genebassman Great reply. If you’re a musician or just a big music fan, most are gonna know the difference if it’s coming from the heart and just plain great vs someone just going through the motions for that $20 bill. The thing is these people are in Nashville, known for its music and the stellar musicians that are there. Why they weren’t stopping still boggles my mind with this.

Actually, since I live in Nashville, I can answer your question. But first, I enjoy this man's channel and talent very much. That being said, as I watched this I was thinking that had I been downtown that day, I probably would have walked past as well. The two main reasons are: 1. It's Nashville, and we see street musicians on every street corner all year round, so it's an extremely common sight. 2. We have lives to live and errands to run, just like anyone. We're not tourists who have hours to just stop and enjoy the music. We have to get to work, go get groceries, etc. So, don't accuse people for walking past. They had places to be. Hope that helps. Have a good one.

I get the feeling most of these people are tourists. Everybody don’t appreciate music either & know talent when they see or hear it. Music is something to be felt. I would have stopped no matter where I was going. A funeral would be my only exception.

I'm a real music fan, And I sometimes listen to guitarist such as, Joe Satrani, John patucci, And I have people ask me how I can listen to them just playing guitar and no singing? And when that happens I know that they don't have that special thing that some of us have! When a great guitarist can give you goosebumps when they are awesome! Now it could have been the beers I was drinking tonight, But this cat can shred that damn thing! I would have parked my ass right there on the street for a few jams with this ol boy! Incredible talent! Thanks for the goosebumps dude! You're the cat's meow daddy oh!

Wow, this song has been following me around everywhere in the past month or so I love how you made this performance into your own expression, your own interpretation, it is (I feel, at least) the truest way a musician can shine! Is when they take something that "vibes" within them and to project those vibes outward as their music~

We have street artists doing this in the UK to, and just like in the US people scurry by, sometimes without so much as a glance. I can only imagine that they are so blinkered and intent on getting to their destinations that they probably didn't even know you were there...it's really a sad, sad time, and you and people like you are doing their best to shine a little light on a world that's getting dimmer by the day...excellent music sir.
