When my dad called to tell me my cousin had died (we were very close, was like one of my own brother) I was very calm and direct answering him. I was surrounded by friends, and to them it looked like I was having normal conversation with my dad. I didn’t cry or grieve until two days after we buried him, then I had a breakdown. The shock numbs you and can put you in a state of denial until that veil is lifted. Usually killers black out during those times, because they go through a rush of adrenaline and then they get into a state of shock. So it's normal for killers to say that they don't remember that much. It's such a shocking experience to kill someone, so the mind tries to protect them from the trauma. But yeah, of course they can remember if they think about it. It's just that they don't want to.

I feel so horrible for the victims in this case and the police as well. The mom is so calm because she’s in deep shock and most likely dissociating. The brain will do that in order to survive. I had a horrific event happen to me and I was able to essentially stay calm afterwords even when I was talking to the cops at the hospital, I was told o sounded robotic almost but they knew it was a trauma response and nothing felt real at that time anyways . The typical response that everyone expects comes later on and it’s horrific to go through because it hits at once, it did for me at least . I wish nothing but the best for this young man’s mother.

What’s crazy is we look at one person who kills another as evil, abhorrent, inhumane. Yet the same people will thrust to the point of national hero men who slaughter millions. One does it with a pen, one does it with their hands. One gets prison, another gets Nobel peace prizes. If you think this is bad, try having your entire family blown up at a wedding celebration by a US drone. Then watching the commander of that drone get a peace prize. This case is nothing compared to the actual evil in this world.

The poor mom. I can only imagine the nightmares that plague her since that discovery. She's so in shock that she seems calm but I'd imagine that when it truly hit her about what's going on and that her son is gone at the hands of his gf or friend with benefits that she totally lost it. Sometimes, it takes hours, days, weeks or even months and sometimes even years for someone to realize the depths of what has happened. One of my close family members lost their husband/father and one of the kids didn't comprehend until 4 years AFTER the death.

Having worked in a secure forensic psychiatric unit in the UK it is my opinion that she is certifiably insane. Her whole affect and demeanour is exactly like our “service users” as they were referred to. The casual description of the murder (“I was sucking and cutting”), her open explanation of the whole thing. Her bizarre affect and facial expressions in court, However, it is still clearly the case that she should be incarcerated for the rest of her life. An extremely dangerous individual.
@karenamyx2205 Жыл бұрын
Maybe she is, maybe not. But unless they can demonstrate that her insanity specifically prevented her from comprehending the morality of her actions, and the gravity of the consequences, than it would irrelevant. Which does happen, you see a "not guilty by reasons of insanity" on rare occasion. But not usually. Because as im sure you know, millions of people suffer with mental illness and DONT cut people's heads off. And also because, just like any other person, theyre capable of fully understanding that something is wrong and deciding to do it anyways. Unless her insanity means she didnt know that she was cutting off a head, or that it was wrong to cut off a head, or that he would die once she cut off his head... Then shes still responsible for the actions. And shes still a murderer.
@josief5963 Жыл бұрын
@karenamyx2205 I think the original commenter was referencing the legal definition of insanity, where one is incapable of understanding their actions are wrong, not using insanity to mean mental illness.
@mas5867 Жыл бұрын
@karenamyx2205 If a chain's strength is measured by its weakest link, how come we measure human sanity differently? That is, how do we know that people are at all times comprehending the morality of their actions, and the gravity of the consequences of those actions. Why isn't it possible to believe that with the drugs that she checked out momentarily regardless of her later testimony. Gray as hell to me.
