Many thanks, James. This was composed - both words and music - in 1887 by Daniel (aka Dion) de Marbelle. For those who like the technical trivia, it's a 32-bar ai-aii-b-aii structure, played here in E flat. Bars 1 - 16 may be considered as the Verse and 17 - 32 as the Chorus. So they play the first 16 bars only twice - at the start and at 01:55 - 02:31. Shaye sings harmonies on the 'b' section (bars 17 - 24). To play this piece, you can get away with using only three chords - Eb, Ab and Bb7.

@@SetemkiaFawn I'm a huge fan of his music....he had that voice that just cuts through anything and he was early with the jug band, tuba, clarinet bands...I saw him several times live with a clarinetist as a duo...Leon is a treasure...I'm still trying to pull off his ain't misbehavin'....Leon had some Dean Martin in his vocal style...as well as Frank Zappa.

Absolutely fantastic. Many thanks James for filming and sharing here with us. The sound quality is very good. Love the duet by Barnabus and Shaye and then Barnabus leading. At the French Quarter Festival they played the same tune too. (Jackson Square stage) I watched a video by another KZbin user. I am sure you have filmed it too. My guess is that's to preemptively mark their patch as separate from road traffic. Incredibly, some drivers and LEOs feel that a few extra m2 of road space is the proper use of the public realm on Royal St. Rather than accommodating the beauty, magic and traditions shared freely with all people by these legendary artists.
