If you need algorithm video ideas don't forget about your "Meet my dogs" video series. They were pretty cool to watch, and you only had to have 2 or 3 dogs out during filming so it should be easier than big pack vids. Really was interesting hearing about the different blood lines. Thank you for the updates and I'm glad things are working out. Fingers crossed you are approved :)

I'm hoping I can articulate this correctly. I LOVE that when you are down bad, you might be down but you always come back with a revelation, or something very reflective and insightful to take away from your experience. I know we should all try and do that but it takes me like weeks or months to go thru a process that take you a few days. It's a wonderful trait and I know it came with a cost. Good on you mama!

In all truthfulness a great vet will put the animals , there health, and there costumers first and pay second, a good vet will still put the animals first , an alright vet will do both animals and pay , and a crapy vet will put the money first. I can promise you that most people don't want the services for free but to let a person make payments on the bill to save there family members would be the decent thing to do. It's really sad that so many vets aren't willing to work with people and just want to put the animals down . I love watching Reese and you because you both keep it real and don't sugar coat things. My prayers are with both families and I pray that all goes great for both of you this year and all the ones after. Have a great week !!!!

I plan on becoming a vet in the future, but I'm taking the right steps to ensure I don't fall into this trap. Animals are my passion and I want to help them. I'm not in it for the money. I just got an internship with a breeder who also owns two vet clinics. I'm hoping to follow in his footsteps to try to bridge the gap between breeders and vets. Love your videos 🙂

I worked as a vet tech for over 20 years (Nashville TN area) & I TOTALLY AGREE w/ what ur saying about forcing "elective" surgery on an owner in order to perform the "life-saving" surgery/procedure!! It needs to be illegal!! And I had the privilege of working with one vet who really did work alongside her dog breeder clients, but she was a repro vet. It was very nice to witness the camaraderie between breeder & vet!!

I know you said it's been nice having someone else whelp your litters but lets be honest; I know, you know and we all know you miss it. You miss being there for the births, you miss starting that bond the moment they are born and growing that bond as they grow and I know WE all miss the more consistent pupdates as they grow and start to open their eyes and start to walk and watching them develop their own little personalities. I'm glad this mess has turned into a blessing in disguise.

That sweet baby played hard with Tillicum (sp?) and sleepin right there in the middle of the yard. That is a happy baby. I pray for jealousy and spite will take a back seat to treating each other with respect and honesty. Having animal control come out and see how well your babies are looked after just shines a light on those who are doing things like false reporting of abuse. I pray to have the privledge to own a STCC in my future. I find it very hard to believe or trust most people in this world but I know one person I do trust is Rachel and her pack. I have gained so much knowledge and confidence in being a dog owner that it has changed me completely. Thank you for sharing your life and work.

i live in a poorer area, and the vet i use is awesome, he works with people. we have had to get emergency abdominal surgery for a dog that ripped it all open on a fence, emergency vet quoted at a few thousand he did it for under 800. he knows the people in his community and he does what he can to help our pets. he also doesn’t push heartworm or flea and tick, he actually told us we could do it less than we used to. awesome vet!!! i do understand why vets struggle so much. i worked in a shelter for a few months and euthanasias are SO hard. we were euthanizing just for space. awesome dogs who just needed a little work who i loved. gone. it was awful. went home crying almost everyday. it doesn’t change my opinion tho on adopt or shop responsibly. i will no doubt adopt or shop from an AMAZING breeder. a byb bully mix tho, i would never buy from a breeder. we euthanized them everyday.

We just took a trip to the vet yesterday and they were ALL about money. Our dog had an ear infection and they suggested a medicine. A medicine that would require a checkup and refills ($100) every 2 weeks until it POSSIBLY cleared up..compared to using Claro once and done. They hadn't even mentioned Claro until I asked about it, and even then they pushed the drops.

How can anybody be so idiotic to actually fault you for vets unaliving themselves. If somebody unalives themselves there is a long term mental issue going on and NOBODY can prevent somebody from doing it if that person really wanted to so. It makes me sad that people try to burden you with such horrific actions just because they don‘t like you. I‘m really impressed how mature and wise you can handle that sort of crap. We moved to Maine, U.S. and so I had to find a vet for our gsd. I called every vet in a 50mile vicinity and 0 were taking new animals, and I finally found 1 and they're a good vet and all but they're all about money. So we got a new pup and we're deciding to fix him or not and got a price because he is 105lbs it's just shy of 500 dollars, almost fell of my chair, and it's almost every few months I get reminders he's due for this and that. It's sad.

Rachel you are such an inspiring person. I had a horrible experience with a vet a few years ago. I went in with my pregnant dog to check on the puppies and they gave her a medication that caused her to be in a vegetative state. They refused to try to save her or the puppies. Lawyers in town wouldn't take the case because they stick together.

I did work experience at a vet clinic when I was around 14 and I shit you not, every single animal that came in was given an anti inflammatory which wasn't cheap, so if the animal need it, great, it'll do its job, if they don't then it won't harm them, it just won't do anything. This was a bad clinic. The vet who was supposed to be on call would be drunk a lot, when I did this work experience they euthanized a seagull and just left it in one of the cat kennels for a week. It was rank. They over charged and gave unnecessary meds to gain profit. I don't think vets necessarily get kick back but they make profit from their products. They buy them cheap(er) and sell them marked way up, the difference between a good and a bad vet is which one is going to push more meds to make more money 🤷🏻‍♀️ my current vet is absolutely awesome, they do things literally as cheaply as they can. It cost me just over £100 to get my kitten neutered, first vaccines, chipped and some flea, worm treatment and two health checks. It actually cost me less to buy him and get all of that done that it would have been to get a kitten from a shelter, which is absolutely deplorable but that's a whole other issue 😂 The one vet that is well loved in this country (UK) is a guy called Noel Fitzpatrick. He's incredible. He helps people with their vet bills, will cover costs and do free surgeries and he comes up with new and innovative ways to treat animals that other vets say aren't fixable. He's great.

Great video! Glad to see that even though it was highly stressful, you actually got something of great value from it. As for the vet part, sad to say [without targeting the good apples of course] there is no money in cures, this is something that I see too commonly in in the shifty medical field. While I appreciate great vets and doctors alike we also cant deny that money plays a huge role in a lot of life saving things. In this instance, Emergency rooms would be empty if we had to pay beforehand! Very upsetting thing to witness happen, while pets aren't humans they're just as much apart of us as other humans are. Breeders who breed healthy dogs should be very much in the good hands of amazing vets after all, encouraging healthy breeding etc. would mean less tragedy than the average backyard breeding and such and the same people accusing you of painting vets with a broad stroke do the same to breeders! Im so very happy things are looking better for you, but I didn't expect any different, You're very strong and one of the only remaining people I look up to today. Loved seeing Tilly boy! He is all fluff! Have a great week and cant wait to see how much more you grow😊❤

I live in Canada and in my surrounding area all the vet clinics have been sold to corporations that are only in it for the money. It no longer matters how the vets want to do things or how much they want to charge they have to follow a protocol. These corporations are just a bunch of rich guys that go around buying up the most lucrative businesses. Here’s a good one I took a dog in just to get some IV fluids to rehydrate bc he wasn’t eating or drinking and was vomiting. When I get there my vet (he owned the clinic at the time) was out on an emergency call so I was stuck with a vet I didn’t know. I told what was going on and that my just wanted the fluids and she gave me this big song and dance about have to do ultrasound X-ray blood tests you name it and gave me a quote of almost $2000 and told me they don’t hydrate and give iv without admitting them over night. I paid her time and asked that the secretary to have my vet call me asap and went home. When he called me I told him everything that the other vet said to me and he was mad. He told me that there was a flu going around and that he’s sure that was wrong with my boy but that if he wasn’t any better by the next day which was a Sunday that he would go would give him antibiotics iv fluids etc and it would cost me more than $100. Needless to say the vet that tried to fleece me got fired. Now that the clinic was sold it $100 just to walk in the door. We can’t do anything on our own like y’all can in the US, we have to go to the vet for everything. We cant buy vaccines, antibiotics and they are even trying to take dewormer. The government has made it so that we have to go to the vet for everything, but we also so have any clinics open on weekends nor do we have an emergency clinic.

My experience with vets and fancy diets is really sad. Honestly, you can feed homemade diets for most things and it's cheaper than Hills canned diets for small dogs. You, Rachel, would need a whole cafeteria kitchen to cook for your dogs, but if you can find a natural vet they will give you a diet you can cook up for pancreatitis prone or G.I. type problem or kidney UTI type problems and it's better than Hills. I found a guy who does natural medicine when possible and people travel from far and wide to get to him. That's my experience with cats and dogs too. Same for vaccinations. I never vaccinated my house cats. They live inside. No exposure to feral cats so I only vaccinated for travel, for daycare or some other special thing. My vet, the natural health guy, had no problem with it but other vets definitely did. They gave me hell. I had another vet who treated a dog for three years for stomach problems and when I ran out of money ($3,000 for special diets, antibiotics, etc. in 1990, was a lot of money then.) I finally gave the dog up for a rehome (I had a busy house with a high strung poodle, two cats and a bird. ) The vet gave him tranquilizers upon going to a new home and the dog never went back to the vet. The dog was calmer from then on. He could have done that three years ago for me and I wouldn't have had to give up my dog. I never went back to this fancy specialist again. Give me a good old fashioned vet who likes natural and common sense fixes.

So much in this video! When I was watching the replay of the live I was thinking to myself, she will take this down and you did! I’m proud of you! I am a VERY REACTIVE person, got a few years on you so I’ve learned, and I always had to learn the hard way……..now, i keep my lips zipped till I’ve had time to process the situation, and I also try REALLY hard to be the better person and never say something I may regret. And it’s HARD 😂 Don’t get me started on Vets, I’ve been fleeced on emergencies on weekends when my vet is closed. $450 for a lymes blood test, exam, and get this…..$220 for the antibiotics that Walmart fills for $10. Wanna talk pissed?? I blew them up in a review and not sorry for any of it🤬 Sooner or later attorneys are gonna be hired for Wrongful death of a pet. Only then will we see change or at least better service for our furry children. My Vet, if you’re a client he will work out a payment plan. He’s 71 now and I’ll be lost when he fully retires, he’s a hell of a person and dam fine vet.

Agreed 👍 about how some Vets can charge much less than others..i ask Google what a typical procedure should cost. Also I just read how the rabies vaccine can cause more than 65 behavioral and neurological issues with dog because the vaccine can last up till 7 yrs. And tet states require 1-3 yrs of the shot! So you explaining all this hopefully makes sense to others..you/ we need to advocate for our pets!

I'll be honest, my heart lies and dies with pitbulls 😊 but seeing your channel really inspires me to learn more about this breed. Seeing your passion for them in real time is so amazing to see. Good things come to good people!

Vets have absolutely been squeezed by big corps that buy them out and promise nothing will change, so the big vet who opened the practice and ran it sells it off and goes on their merry way. Meanwhile, the corps want to spend lots of money on this and that and absolutely squeeze the life out of everyone EXCEPT FOR the vets. The rest of the team gets absolutely thrown to the wolves, especially the technicians. Front of house team is barely an afterthought when they’re the ones dealing with all the angry clients and customer service BS. Management doesn’t give a flying shit, anybody high-tier is sitting pretty above the carnage and their hands never ever get dirty. The one thing that really sticks in my craw about the customer side is now down on raw diets vets are. Every time I told my old vet about feeding her raw they poo-pood it even though it’s fixed her digestive issues, they wanted to put her on a kidney diet that I compare to hospital food and she hated it, wouldn’t touch it. I’m surprised more vets don’t try feeding dogs raw that have skin allergies etc., they’d rather sell out to the companies that manufacture EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE dog food bc it’s literally like food and medication in one. It’s disgusting how corrupted by money the industry is, you get into the field bc you want to help the animals and it sucks the life out of you.

I will say however that vets DO NOT GET KICKBACKS on selling supplements, 99% of people get the Rx from the vet and then buy it way way cheaper online from Chewy. Preventatives are a huge market but the vets aren’t the ones seeing the money, they are genuinely doing it for the health of the pet.

Also there are huge differences in risk between rural and urban areas, the population of dogs and things like rats, unclean water dishes that people leave outside of shops for dogs to drink that then get urine in them and spread diseases, dog parks spreading sickness / dog park fights, new puppies, surgeries, on and on. Plus the rent for city real estate is much higher so yes they have to charge more. Most vets personally do want to help the animals though, and most people in the business would not knowingly harm an animal. Like at the same time it’s not worth it to make vets the boogeyman, the people in the building do generally have good hearts. The suicide rates among vets is extremely high, higher than most other professions, and compassion fatigue is a genuinely huge problem. Too bad they do literally nothing to fix it 🙄🙄🙄

I just give my dogs Nemex, I don't do fecals and nemex is safe enough for young puppies etc My vet is ok with my giving vaccinations myself, after the normal puppy shots, I give parvo and distemper every other year. I dont do heartworm as my dogs live indoors and in the supper I spritz them with peppermint spray to go out to potty etc.

Did I hear that correctly...People were putting another persons choice to take their life on you...Rachel, STCC. Are you f'k kidding me. How evil are people in this world. I admit you, Rachel, can be a beotch at times but I guaruntee I have you beat in that department and I luv you anyway. You are family. This world scares me, the people scare me. I thank Jesus for Jesus and what he did for me, for us. He has you in his arms Rachel.

This crazy hyper capitalist approach to medicine both human and veterinary, is so disgusting inhumane and harmful. I hate the corporate consolidation and unnecessary crap they tack on. IMO no one in these essential industries should come out of school over 100k in debt either. It discourages good people from going into these professions and makes the shortages even worse. Fingers crossed you get your permit and that this next year is better for all of us. I know you know this, but yours and Reece's friendship is a treasure and a blessing. :)

I have a negative comment on giving my ShitzuBichon mix 10 yr old dog heartworm meds. He has seizures right after giving it to him and ends up at the vet overnight to check him for various reasons. It happened twice and now I refuse to give him the meds. Never happened again. He is an inside dog and not really exposed to mosquitoes etc. They do look at me strangely but when I tell them how it affects my dog, they back off. They have been treating him for all his life so they know me well enough to trust what I say. It's so frustrating.

Just saying, but what I interpret from this permit issue is there might be some corruption going on. Decades ago I took my dogs to a local vet. He was decent enough, but I can never shake the feeling that every time I walk thru the doors to his office I hear a "cha ching" somewhere in the background.

I’m surprised animal control was reasonable. They are a bunch of useless tools where I live. I think some vets think they are special because they save animals, much like how some (key word some) equestrians think they know everything. ‘Bout time something good happened to you! I’m glad I work with dead animals (taxidermy)

Honestly I'm very lucky most of the people here have hounds because it's a cultural custom so many of the animal control people have kennels of dogs and they're constantly at the house of people that have hounds. But I've had my fair share of horrible Animal Control Officers. I'm just lucky that they're not here in my area.

Very sad but I could never imagine not being there for a dog I loved so much in there last minute's all I would think about is that they left knowing something wasn't right and being confused which there is no way they wouldn't be ... no I would have to be there it's all part of loving and owning dog's!! Could you really not be there for Preacher and hold him in last moment's ? 😔

By the way, your vet story is one of extreme capitalism as a bad thing. And our world seems to be heading more and more in this direction. Money > people. Money > environment.
