No joke, my brother has about 10 hours in TF2, and by some cosmic coincidence ALL of those hours were played during the brief window where Camera Beards were a common drop. He has like three vintage beards just sitting there in his backpack and I keep asking him to trade with me but he's always too busy. Maybe he's just holding onto an investment 💸

@@Mystic-Midnight well unlike us that no longer exactly see ref having direct tangible monetary value, they were basically seeing a currency they have rapidly losing value in a matter of a few short years. also fun fact it's around that time too that content surrounding TF2 trading started to stop being made

I remember this and once they made the change of camera beards into hats the people who kept all their camera beards crafted them into random hats. Many people got rich I wasn't one of them.

@@aleflippy1997 you just answered your own question; back when trading was first added, items were worth as much as you were willing to pay. People were selling craft hats for a SHITLOAD more value than they are worth today. Man even 10 years ago in 2014 the economy was still good enough to make some actual side money trading craft hats and stranges. It wasn't automated yet; all trading was done through forums and trade servers.

On a semi-related note: "Hats" as an actual classification of item is no longer a thing. Hats and miscs have been consolidated into one "Cosmetic" item type (or more specifically, the "Misc" item type was renamed and all items in the "Hat" class were moved). This also means that if you go to the in-game Mann Co. catalog and select the "Hats" tab, it's completely empty, while the "Miscellaneous Items" tab shows every cosmetic, including headwear.

It all comes together, Not give us a 4th slot, a new mvm tour with some new type of cosmetic (killstreaker for cosmetics? Aura parts? (Strange parts but instead of counters it's an animated effect on the character) Or maybe the new mvm item can be robot costumes (Like the zombie head item that, when equipped, turns your character into a zombie/wearing a zombie outfit) What about, a new tour, hardest one yet, With a low low chance of dropping OG crates

My take is if valve is so unwilling to give major updates but coast on community products, just give the reigns to professionals from the community. It is mind boggling they let the game flounder due to both complacency and probably being salty they didnt turn tf2 into the next pro e sport when that was never its appeal, even to comp players. Just allow the community to be more involved and actually support the game again. Especially since i feel like tf2 may be one of the only games that i feel will still have a player base if their attitude about online games comtinues. I have zero hope for that hero shooter they're making being remotely successful.
