HR is in bed with Lawyers right from the moment you are interviewed, and your co-workers are going to take the managers side if they want to keep their jobs. If they dont want you there, you havent got a hope in hell.

HR is the company’s legal defense extension. Interference with legally protected leave (i.e. FMLA leave) is a protected complaint.

Down here in Costa Rica if you work with a trans national company and they let you go, they will provide you with a liquidation package 9 times out of 10 based on what you earned and your time with the company to avoid any legal ramifications. Also to prevent from getting a complaint to the ministry of labor.

Union job here: the union representative recommended me to send complaint to HR and cc him. It ended up with me getting scolded by both and i need to drop it.

Look for another job. HR will take managements side. Not yours. It's easier to get rid of a lower ranking employee and replace them than it is to find somebody new in management.
