Planted it last year, definitely took a while to get going. But turned out great! Thanks for the refresher information as I will plant it again this year!👍

Good talk on Egyptian wheat in the past you mentioned weed control and then Southern Michigan I’m going to plan on spraying June 1 this week, and then working at the soil putting in the seeds and covering on June 3 with the triple 19 fertilizer. What other weed control methods do you use? Are you attempting to spray With something later in the growing season? As needed? And if so, what? I was going to use glyphosate just prior to planting. Thanks, enjoy your show, Drew.

Glyphosate needs to be done about 10-15 days prior to kill the weeds. Then you can disc that area up and plant. I don’t control the weeds after it’s planted if the prep is done correctly you shouldn’t have many weeds coming back in. Plant before a rain and the EW will outcompete anything that comes back.

Just got mine planted about 4 days ago. I just top-seeded the dirt and threw dead grass and hay on top of it and watered the hell out of it. It's 108.7 degrees out rn lol about died watering it today. I'll let you know how it goes.

Hey man i was wondering im going to put a food plot in this year for the first time ever can i plant this all the way around my plot and have a couple of gaps in it for deer to use or do i need gaps at all
@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors10 ай бұрын
You can do that yes but it’s 50/50. A lot of times bucks mature ones might not like that they could feel trapped if that makes sense. I’ve had it work both ways. Maybe do half of it screened but not the whole thing.

Once grown how long will it stay standing into the winter ..... northeast Hunter...will it stay standing once dead and throughout snowfall?
@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors10 ай бұрын
Hard snows no it will Fall down or be thinned. By that time at least is alot of places hunting season is done and no need for a screen anymore

Do deer move through Egyptian Wheat? I want to be able to screen my access without restricting deer travel.
@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Well if you are using it for a screen to block your access you don’t want them walking through it. Typically if it’s thick enough and 10-15 wide they won’t walk through it
@marcusbuckslayer32802 жыл бұрын
@@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors thanks for the response. My only access to property is from ag fields. Deer are in it in the morn when I go out to hunt, and there when I leave in evening. I don't want to restrict their movements between the fields or from the neighboring properties. I think my best choice would b a perimeter of corn.

Do u think Egyptian wheat is better than switch grass ?
@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Depends on your goals. Switch takes a lot of prep work before it can be planted and cost a lot and it high maintenance to get going. It’s still a grass and will fall down with heavy snow. But will bounce back. It’s permanent so there’s that. If you own the land it could be wise to invest using it. EW is easy to grow and cheap. But it needs to be planted each year. If it’s leased ground then it might be the better option
