In a year or two of driving, you won’t even think of it and it will become second nature for you. In the first year, you’ll have your fair share of mix ups, etc. People getting angry because you don’t pull out in time, people getting angry because you pull out in front of them, when you get anxious in a very narrow street or busy motorway rush hour. But this phase always passes and you will succeed, this happens for everyone

I really enjoy your videos, although i know this stuff pretty well. Coz anybody could tell you are an excellent teacher mate. Why all the good teachers are on KZbin most of the time and not in a city one lives in ). I noticed that many instructors teach pressing the clutch down together with the break, to simplify the task for a student and to prevent student from stalling too often. Or they may not care that much , IDK. I started driving 20 yrs later than people normally would, so I was very serious about learning properly. Read tonns of bokks and hours of videos on youtube, before I understood the theory properly. So It took me a lot of time to find an instructor that would not insist on pressing the clutch pedal down every time i would need slow down a notch. I even had instructors that would demand pressing the clutch down while in a turn a 25-30 kmh, or when slowing down from the similar speed. Lets say, i would not even pass a driving test in Canada if i would drive like that, simply for operating the vehicle unsafely. I recently saw a video of one European driving school where an instructor asked a student when slowing down and exiting from a highway, to press the clutch + brakes at 100 kmh, and there were no gear changing during that. They went like 7 seconds long at 100 km/h with the clutch down and no other action. Insane.

I've often found that the concept of "the engine spinning" is too abstract, as when you open the bonnet all you see is a solid lump of metal. But if I get learners to watch the underneath of a 7.5t lorry then they can see the propshaft spinning. Although it's the wrong side of the transmission, it still makes them think, "oh yeah, I see what you mean" 😂
@silvereagle404

if people don't get the concept of a running engine, they shouldn't even have a driving license and need to go back to kindergarten.. like seriously how difficult is it
@ConquerDriving
@ConquerDriving 4 жыл бұрын
I understand silvereagle404's point that anyone can understand the engine's job is to spin something. But I also understand where you're coming from Inclusive Driving, having taught people for 11 years now I think showing them a prop shaft may help some people realise the engine spins even when you're stationary.

My instructor told me that if you are moving then your never going to stall no matter how quickly you release the clutch. It will only cause the car to jolt
@ConquerDriving
@ConquerDriving 4 жыл бұрын
This is true as the wheels will keep the engine spinning slowly but when you put the clutch down to select a lower gear it may stall then as most engines can't recover from less than 500rpm so a stall would happen eventually.

Great video! That's what my driving instructor had taught. Clutch before the give way line and if you manage to stop after sight of give way line disappears, you're stopping exactly in front of it. One question, what if there's a bad road, e.g a small bump before the give way line, clutching it will make your car roll to the front or back. What should I do in this situation? Hit onto the brake? Would it stall the vehicle?
@ConquerDriving
@ConquerDriving 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. When the clutch is down the hill and the environment controls the speed of the car. So down a bump you will speed up and up a bump you will slow down.

1st gear wants to go about 7-8kph with no gas, so if you like the clutch up above that speed without has it will rapidly slow down. I advise changing to second gear at that speed before lifting the clutch up as it's a better gear for the speed.

I have two questions: 1. we can take our foot off the gas and brake to slow down a bit without clutch as long as its not too slow or we need to change the gear, right? Also, Going downhill, can i just brake without clutch down as long as its not too slow? 2. When I'm at relatively higer speed say 20kmph and i had pressed my clutch for some obstacle ahead (which i should not do after watching this video), do i still have to wait at the bite point or can i release clutch quickly all the way? I've been taught that i need to clutch down every time i take my foot off gas or brake because the car would stall otherwise Thanks you

You can come off all the pedals and the car will slow down unless it's down a steep enough hill. Clutch only needs to be down when the engine is near 1000rpm. Always bring the clutch up very carefully or it could be jerky.

Hi, can you please share your knowledge about the queries you posted in your first point especially about the slow car movement in downhill

At 5:47, why didn't you press the clutch all the way to the floor. I noticed that you only pressed the clutch all the way to the floor at 5:53 when changing gear. Thank you in advance.
@ConquerDriving
@ConquerDriving 4 жыл бұрын
That was all the way down, or as near as it makes no difference. It doesn't need to be hard on the floor, a little bit up will be OK as long as it's below the bite point.

Is it safe enough to use engine braking on the junctions , when you have clear view of the other roads ?
@ConquerDriving
@ConquerDriving 2 жыл бұрын
Whether it's safe is down to how much you slow down as apposed to what method you use to slow down.

lets say im going to turn right. Do i have on 1 gear or 2 gear while im turning? and should i have the clutch in while turning?
@ConquerDriving
@ConquerDriving 4 жыл бұрын
That depends on the speed you're going and the car. Choose the relevant gear for your speed. If you must go below 1000rpm than you will need the clutch down.

If there's speed why do you have to bring the clutch up to the bite just let go of it quickly
@ConquerDriving
@ConquerDriving 4 жыл бұрын
Because the speed between the engine and clutch is different so you still need to give the clutch time to sync.

@@noraexplora5957 I had a similar issue with a customer who wouldn't come off the brake and would stop too early. A quiet area and practise helped sort it. I would say you're probably a bit too tense if you are struggling to control yourself. If so, try to find routes that allow you to relax and enjoy the ride.

You need to do some slow speed practice in an empty car park where you can get a feel for the controls with no other traffic around. Try doing it on a Sunday when shops are closed, less traffic and you can just focus on the controls, not the traffic

The thing I don’t get is in my driving lessons I use only clutch and break on clutch control but the thing I don’t get other people use clutch and gas as a clutch control can someone help me out with it
@ConquerDriving
@ConquerDriving 3 жыл бұрын
Using clutch and brake for clutch control wears the clutch prematurely and doesn't work in all cars. Clutch control uphill and brake control downhill.

Press the clutch down when the revs are low. Brake when you need to slow down. You shouldn't do one before the other, just do whichever one is needed when needed.
