Strategy: Throw the gernades at the troops shooting at you, DO NOT throw it at the boss, he can thoss it right back. This is to get rid of the enemies raining fire in you. Next, use the ammo of the pistol to finish off the stragglers. Finally, engage the boss using close range wepons like the shot gun and melee weapons like the bat. This is how you beat, Demolition man.

or you do the Funny way The baseball bat can parry all projectiles below a certain velocity, whether people or grenade. As it turns out... It also bypasses the boss's grenade catch because the game scripts timers to be skipped and the weapon to detonate on contact this does prevent you from cheesing the Pyro's bossfight by just bouncing grenades around corners though.

Don't slip up by getting caught in the lounge room drinking coffee, ALWAYS be in the designated boss room. -Be considerate to your unruly guest by providing plenty of health packs and ammo either in your designated boss area or within range. -Have your designated area wide to liberate optimal movement and have it enclosed upon entering. They should only be able to leave either by defeating you or dying. -It is preferable to entertain your guest with some dialogue as you physically engage with them. Try trash talk. If you're incapable of speech, just make an intimidating noise. -Remember, you don't want to be like old console bosses, such as the original Nintendo or Super Nintendo bosses by having unfair advantages such as being able to move much faster than the protagonist and shoot unavoidable amounts of firepower that take up the whole screen.

Counter points: - boss doing stuff throughout the stage to make the treck to the boss room difficult to build up tension. (Makes you want to beat them more) - lounging around with a drink when they reach the boss can make for good intimidation psychological style, make them think you don't see them as a serious threat. (And more satisfying when you beat them anyways) -having no health and ammo before the boss can still work narratively by making the boss seem competent... Then undermine it by having the players allies show up with the items instead via drop off box or something. That way, the players allies seem more useful. -a boss capable of restricting optimal movement options in the boss space bit by bit as the fight goes on can make the boss seem more competent (ex. Mr. Freeze in batman Arkham city) -the speech/noise thing can work fine... But a unnervingly silent boss can also be intimidating as well, shows focus, which comes off as dangerous. - while I can agree that bosses can be kinda BS with faster speed and bullet hell attacks, if the player is given options to counter these (even if by a limited resources), can make for some fun back and forth in the fight. (Ex. Xemnas in Kingdom hearts) Of course, it all just varies on what vibe you want your bosses to have at the end of the day, no rule is iorn clad, just as long as it's not frustrating or annoying in execution. ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯ -oh and adding a optional escape route to the boss room could be funny, as long as it's something the player can use to leave intentionally because they felt overwhelmed and not because they went out not knowing they'd leave the fight. Maybe have the boss taunt you if you leave, kinda rub it in like they let it happen to mess with you. What kind of spitballing here but I kind of want to do that with a boss design now. 😂

Can I just say, after playing and finishing Gears of War 1, that I actually thought the game was being kind by giving me a lot of ammo, but the more I thought about it, the more suspicious I got when they was giving me a lot of ammo and some weapons. Long story short, I ended up fighting the boss multiple times cause I kept dying.
