I only just thought of this now, but that laundry spell would have been incredibly practical when they were being tracked by the demon blood stains. I wonder if that held some weight towards Fern's choice of spell to choose.

That's an interesting thought. However, I still think her 2 major reasons are: (1) Doing laundry back in the day is hella hard. As opposed to some killing spell that you'll use maybe once in while, a laundry spell would be used practically all the time. (2) She was super jealous of how Frieren hugged Methode and said that she smelled nice.

That final scene, about goodbyes is in the manga. and the production team had the genius to choose to adapt up to that part giving us that weird 28 episode number.

This show was amazing, i really hope we get more in the future, the care the staff had with it was astounding, i'm really glad the adaptation was this well made. Also, i was honestly surprised by Land never leaving his house, i never even considered that possibility

12:48 : "She can read your mind, what if you go in with lewd thoughts?" That reminds me of the anime Kotoura-san. Despite a few flaws, it has nice funny and sad moments. The female MC found her first friend after a life of being hated for her ability to read minds, but that friend is only genuinely caring and has weird dream-like sequences in his head... or erotic thoughts which make her embarrassed. Frieren is my favorite anime yet. I don't think a single episode of the season is bad. I also love how the feels are not aggressively sad, but bittersweet and happy. And whenever you don't have the feels, you have funny moments and cool quality action scenes. The ending was also very well chosen, but I have trouble following its advice. I think I might be embarrassed a bit when I see Frieren and her friends again.

I had a bit of a thought since the show came to a close. We had the first exam where it's set up to be in teams of three, and the second exam where teamwork isn't required but if you actually want to pass you should all work together, Serie commented on how the current set of her first class mage students don't actually work together. Sure seems like an incidental tell just how lacking the current student's teamwork and bonds are, that the first two exams from separate persons require teamwork.

some people said that even if they liked it, they wouldn't be making videos of it for views. I also tried to break the "dogma of the new ones" of making new anime reactors to try frieren instead of death note or AOT as their first anime, anytime i tried i kinda received the answer of " frieren is a show meant for those who have suffered by watching anime until now and want a new pace and fresh air". All you need to know after that is that i took it personally ahahah. not that they can't watch them, but why do they have to be first? if my first anime was frieren i wouldn't be mad i couldn't find more of that calibre later.

Serie is the ultimate Utilitarian. Everything for her is a tool, and it's really shattered her ability to connect with people. The world should be overjoyed Flamme taught Frieren instead. Sure, Frieren has so many issues she has to still work through, you could say she has subscriptions instead. But this elf mage is working through them. I cannot wait for S2

Best moment of Fri so far to me was the reveal that the one guy was never physically there to begin with. I mean no one seemed to know he was a fake body the entire time... well maybe Ubel did. But yeah like you I started laughing at the reveal. I had never considered that option.

Seria bare foot and ancient clothing style could symbolize that she is really stuck in the past and her ways. Frieren has updated overtime her footwear and clothes to the current standard fashion, showing that she is moving forward even if she is old in age.

Afraid of... My friend that was the plan from childhood... I mean I seek my one and only. That is no hypocritical title or statement... I mean my one and only despite it being this life or another, past present or future. Sometimes we fail to cross paths and others we meet up in the most inconvenient ways. But my soul is theirs alone not negotiable or tradable or sellable... it is theirs alone for eternity and is my vow that can never be bent or broken. So I may not have met them yet; and if I do and they do not share my feelings or whatever... well there is always next time. My only concern is their happiness, be that with me or with out. I am not concerned with dying alone; I am concerned only with being forgotten... with my sisters great grand children's great grand child knows my name at least then I will be happy.

Ubel effortlessly killed one 1st class mage, completely dominated the other (Sense) in and out of combat, she can copy and use other people's spells, he visualization ability is unheard of and she's a phycho. I've seen many people being surprised how Ubel passed, for some reason, but to me it's no wonder that Serie just passed her without a fuss. As for Methode, she's strong offensively and defensively, a good organizer, her composure is great and her mental defenses are top tier. So again, a valuable asset. And for me, Frieren is probably the anime of the decade, not just year. It has no weak points and watching it is a joy...can't wait for more. BTW, Uber x Land became a huge ship in the community, so the manga author started out the new arc with those two on a mission together, lol.

Both Übel and Methode are clearly disturbing to Serie for one reason or another. She might not be afraid of either, but I think she realizes that the former could potentially meet her head on in a fight, just by the strength of imagination and the idea that the neck of an elven child would be nearly as easy to cut as hair and cloth. She's also aware of Übel's way of empathizing with people to learn their spells, and doesn't like her psychopathic nature, thus refuses to talk to her any more than absolutely necessary, though she still can't refuse a promising mage to pass their exam. In the case of Methode, it seems like Serie has actual trouble reading her like she does everyone else. She may have passed her on a whim, but it's fully possible that Methode's mental defenses may have unsettled her almost as much as Übel's offensive abilities.

Don't hype up Ubel that much. She can't even beat Fern, Methode, Wirbel, or Denken. Frieren and more so Serie are completely out of her league. Check my explanation below for more details: As far as we know, there 4 components to magic in the Frieren world: (1) Mana: How much mana you have. (2) Control: How much mana you can control and how precisely you can control it. (3) Spell: The magical formulas that you know and are able to use. Examples: Zoltraak, Reelseiden. Note that the spell formula dictates what is possible or not possible, so you cannot pierce dragon scales with a standard Zoltraak no matter what you visualize nor can standard Zoltraak pierce the basic defensive magic regardless of the attacker's visualization. Another example, is Frieren's spell to clean a bronze statue not being usable for a stone statue. (4) Visualization: Needed to activate a spell since you cannot make something work if you can't clearly/exactly picture the outcome. Note that a weak visualization might further limit your spell, but a strong visualization cannot strengthen a spell. So, Ubel's visualization is only taking advantage of Reelseiden's formula to cut anything in a 5 meter radius. Even she is unable to fully maximize the spell, since she cannot visualize cutting defensive magic. However, she can visualize cutting more things than most people, so she's still a very proficient user of this spell. Another example, is even before Frieren showing her full mana, Aura's scales were already tilting towards Frieren even though Aura herself was unaware that Frieren had more mana. In summary, the visualization component of magic is just like in real life; you will surely fail if you have a weak mindset, but a strong mindset does NOT guarantee success (ie, good mindset is a necessary, but insufficient condition for success since external factors are still a thing). Visualization is important, but it's not the be all end all. Spells determine what's possible or not, and your visualization can make you achieve between 0% to 100% of that spell's power. You cannot just bs visualize/imagine yourself into winning/doing-the-impossible.
