So my college sent me an email say that I got my finesse aid award and when I get to see my office letter and it said that I was awarded $3,559.00, I was like I need to spend it wisely so I thought I can use it to pay for my class only and buy my books and stuff with my money but then when check my account summary because my classes is about to start it said that my charges are $985.37 financial aid was 2,185.00 and my balance is -1,156.63. And mind you that I checked my financial aid award multiple times and it said that I have $3,559.00 and I’d check everywhere else to see if this was the right amount and it was and I haven’t even used my award yet since my classes haven’t started get

That’s definitely something you will want to get clarified. Since it deals with your specific financial aid award, we recommend you go to your schools financial aid office and ask that they break everything down for you. We hope you can get that figured out.

I don’t have parents in the US How much do I have to make in a year to be qualified for financial AID?

When it comes to financial aid, you don't necessarily need to make a certain amount to qualify for financial aid. For federal student student aid, you need to meet the eligibility criteria: www.edvisors.com/student-loans/federal-student-loans/fafsa/filing-the-fafsa/#financial-aid-eligibility If you don't qualify for federal student aid, you want to set up some time with your financial aid office to see if there are any programs through your school or state.

I have been in school for 1.7 months and I'm an independent student. I have no money, all of my clothes are dirty, my fridge is basically empty, I had to borrow $800 so far from other services because I have nothing. Apparently "its coming soon". This is bs.

I'm sorry you're experiencing delay with your financial aid. If you believe your school isn't appropriately managing your funds, you do have the ability to submit a complaint to the U.S. Department of Education. They can help look into the issue for you. Here's a link to get the process started: studentaid.gov/feedback-center/

If you started classes already and getting notices that your payment is due, you want to take some time to discuss the situation with your financial aid office. There may be something outstanding on your account that you need to complete. It's best to get ahold of them as soon as possible.

We're sorry to hear that, you should talk to your financial aid office on campus & ask questions to help clear up what's going on for you. They should be able to help you!

Hi Hector, there are several steps to get through the process for financial aid offices, and depending on the size of the school, the process does take time to get everyone their financial aid. You can always ask your school's financial aid office for their disbursement calendar to get an idea of when you can expect your financial aid. When it comes to credit balance refunds, your school receives the financial aid on your behalf and then they take their direct costs. At that point, when it comes to federal student aid funds, they have to follow the federal regulations and timeframes to get those funds to you.
