@@Owenthegemmycollector I appreciate the vibes!!!!! I agree. I think malls are going totally extinct and strip malls and online are the new wave…… at least I had the chance to experience the “prime” of that culture! Thanks again!!

Leana's Books that was in there, they moved into the Eastwood Mall in Niles. They're down the hallway from Boscov's. I'm gonna miss Shenango Valley Mall when it gets torn down.

So so sad😢 , grew up going here , so many memories through the years , it was a (dead) / dying mall for many many years , still visited it thou and I even worked at Pennies for a couple years , so so sad😢 , on a side note referring to your video on southern park mall , about a mile or so west of the shenango valley mall on State st (next to Kranyaks) is the Hickory plaza , the original plaza was built by non other than Edward J Debartola Sr (back in the 60’s I believe) 🤔the more you know 👍

At one time, it was full of people. In the early eighties they added an arcade and most of us could be found there. We don't know what they are going to do with the land. They're keeping it a secret, but I think it'll be like Wexford where u have business on first floor and apartments upstairs. JC Penney had a contract from when they moved in in 68 and basically it was that no matter what happened to the mall, they stayed. They took them to court and evicted them. Now, if we want a Penney's, we have to go Eastwood or southern park . They brought it on themselves instead of bringing business in, they could care less. The city of Hermitage has a lot to do with not bringing in business. I could go on, but we live in West Middlesex. My mil lives in Hermitage. Macy's was Kauffman's and before that, strouss and before Strauss which ours originated in downtown Sharon, it was the Sharon store.

@@Thatgirlkathie hey! Thanks for watching and giving some extra information and insight to the video! Like I said , personally I have never seen it busy, but that was mid 90’s. I would have hoped it was a great hangout at one time (which you verified). Thanks again!!

Ours turned into a giant seagull nest from spring to fall. Quite a wild sight to see. Thousands of them nest on top of it every year.

Shenango Valley Mall waa always busy until Sears and Macy's closed. It was more of an indoor extended Plaza. Lots of Great Memories. Now the Eastwood Mall in Niles is bustling, yet the Southern Park Mall is spiraling downward

Drove all the way up there twice in hopes of a walkthrough, but both times it was closed (the second time for good). Interesting that it is still standing because it sounded like they wanted to re-develop quickly.

Well the mall like many others didn't start off dead, it thrived just like most until the 2000s then the only reason to go was the anchors. The big thing that put a big nail in the coffin was when sears and macy's left in 2017, I mean the only reason we went there was either if I begged because I'm a weirdo or mom needed to go to jcpennys and didn't want to go to eastwood. And I think it's because of Jcpennys the mall lasted as long as it did otherwise it would have been gone years ago
