Yes, Michelle is a terrific singer. I hope she does more singing in future films. I also love the Hebrew children's chorus in the middle of the song which is not present in Whitney's and Mariah's cover version.

Chris Mulwee The Whitney & Mariah version had a gospel choir in it that atcually made it more harmonious (not taking anything away from the Hebrew choir). The combination of Mariah & Whitney brought emotion and depth to the song. It is a more relatable version thus bringing a national audience and world wide appeal to the movie.
@cmulwee00111 жыл бұрын
Mitchell Stephens Well, actually, BOTH versions have a gospel choir, in the original Michelle/Sally duet after the Children's Hebrew Bridging segment ends, a HUGE adult gospel choir joins Pfeiffer, Dworsky and the Kids for the final chorus. It may actually be the same chorus on both recordings. A lot of animated movies feature both a show tune and pop version of the movie's signature tune. Others" BEAUTY AND THE BEAST: title song performed by Angela Lansbury in the movie, and by Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson during the end credits THE LION KING "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" performed by Joseph Williams and Sally Dworsky in the film itself and then by writer Elton John during the closing credits. That tends to be a trend in animated features.
@dwanepetersalandy972310 жыл бұрын
The latest example of that is in Frozen with Idina Menzel performing "Let it Go" in the film and a radio version performed by Demi Lovato. I prefer Idina's version much more though.

Whaaaaaat? I see an old movie on the TV called Grease 2, but who is that stunning girl singing in this rather forgotten movie? Google tells me it is Michelle Pfeiffer, of course it is, so young I almost didn´t recognise her. But does she lip sync? Google tells me she is actually singing. I go to youtube to search for Michelle singing and this thing turns up... wtf... how could I live half my life without knowing she was this talented? I am really amazed now.

Yes, Sally Dworsky with her beautiful voice who sang for Moira Kelly in THE LION KING dubs Sandra Bullock's singing voice as Miriam for this film. But what I really like is the fact that Michelle Pfeiffer who plays Tzipporah actuallu does her OWN singing! Yes we all know that Michelle is a top notch actress but not a lot of people know that she truly can sing and sing beautifully. She also did her own singing in GREASE 2, THE FABULOUS BAKER BOYS and HAIRSPRAY.

I really think Michelle Pfeiffer should record an album all her own even if it's all cover songs and remakes and not just do soundtrack vocals. It would be a real treat to hear her lovely voice for a CD entirely her own. I think Sally has done some albums of her own(I believe she's a folk singer) But it's high time Michelle got in the game too. I think you'd agree with me.
@twnyc27247 жыл бұрын
Chris Mulwee I agree but she's never going to do it hahaha. She thinks of herself as an actress who can kind of sing. She says she can only sing well for movies only after she gets retrained, especially after not doing it for a long time. And she would never do concerts or anything. She doesn't have Gwyneth Paltrow's ego, who thought she could sing after her song w Cee Lo but then did an awful job singing live. Especially when Celine Dion sang after her. Anyway that was during one of the award shows from years ago. I always hated Paltrow.

The best version is the original version. The song is part of the movie and every little detail expresses the emotions at this point in the movie. Mariah’s version is just a standalone version. Only directors know how to bring out the best from his singers for the movie.

Doesn't matter to me that it was Whitney Houston's and Mariah Carey's cover version done for the end credits that got nominated for Academy Awards and or maybe a Grammy for best original song. For me this version is the real deal, as Michelle and Sally can really harmonize beautifully and how very similar their singing voices are. In my opinion this is Pfeiffer's and Dworsky's song all the way, as they were the original performers of this tune.
@thec0unting5 жыл бұрын
Wrong. WH & MC version has Babyface additional music & lyrics. The one nominated was WITHOUT and Babyface did NOT get the nomination & Oscar because the additions Babyface added to the song were not featured in the actual film version. The winning song is the film version performed by Michelle Pfeiffer & Sally Dworsky, not the outsing-each-other messy pop version.
@gserran4 жыл бұрын
The Count admit it or not without MC and WH “outsinging” each other there was no way this song would win it in the Oscar over The Prayer by Dion and Boccelli 😂 the reason why it won at the Oscar was because the pop superstars sang the promotional version of the soundtrack
@SwimmerPrince3 жыл бұрын
Houston Carey's version was not a cover, it was a radio version. And THIS version was the actual nominee (and eventual winner) of Best Orginal Score Oscar. This is a common practice for musical films, to submit the in-movie version and have the popular version performed at Academy Award ceremony. (for example 1996, it was Judy Kuhn's Color of the WInd who was submitted, but Vanessa Williams performed. an exception maybe A Whole New World was performed by Brad Kane and Lea Salonga because their version was just as popular).

Reading the comments to this movie is always an adventure. Personally I do not believe in God, at least I don't think so. I used to be a huge believer some years ago and it's kind of hard to let that go if you've been really faithful, but I do not consider myself a christian anymore. However, I have always enjoyed this movie, it's one of the most beautiful ones I've seen. Do I believe it all happened? I used to. But because I don't believe anymore doesn't mean I go around telling people it didn't happen. If people want to believe in the bible, or science, or anything else, I respect it. Others should too. It's a beautiful movie for all audiences anyhow.

Awurabena1 Look here, I'm not boasting about anything. My message was this: Anyone can enjoy this movie, and debating whether or not it actually happened it stupid. Now, about my personal beliefs... Is it sad that I lost faith? Some say yes. I left church because they weren't as accepting as I thought they would be. They preach love but they're very picky about who deserves love. Leaving church left room for doubt, that is true, but I would rather live a life by rules that makes ME happy.

Compare the record sales, the version that was on the lips of the masses. I remember taking my daughter to the movie and as the song played (at the end)... people actually stopped leaving the theatre to listen to the complete Whitney/Mariah rendition, we actually sat back down and clapped at it's conclusion.

Mitchell Stephens Someone commented: The version is 10000 times better than the disgusting pop version Well this is how I put it, While I DO like Michelle's version better the Mariah/ Whitney "cover" is far from "disgusting". I'll listen to them both but mainly the Michelle/Sally "original" is the winner, mainly because of the neat-O Hebrew children's chorus in the bridging part of the song. It was replaced by a newly written bridge written by Kenneth "Babyface" Edmunds, when the two pop/soul legends recorded the end credit version.
