Hearing "Ally Beardsley is playing Ned Stark" made me desperately want to re-watch ACOC, or have another season with a deeply brutal plot. I know that was a particularly stressful one to shoot for the cast, though, so I'm not holding me breath (nor holding it against them).

@@utbefan89 it's not their best season Spoilers abound below, but Lapin had no chance of escaping the cathedral. Which is fine- after all, he angered Keradin so much that the paladin would prioritize killing him. But Cumulous was SO much worse for the season as a whole. If you're making a backup character, you should have him fill a vacant role in the party. There's literally a monk subclass, the Way of Mercy, that can heal his allies and harm his foes. Even if it wasn't out yet, they should've homebrewed something. Amethar should've died in the Cathedral. But then, we wouldn't have gotten that Calroy monologue. Calroy, an NPC, only came to know that Amethar had wed Catherine Ghee because another NPC told him. Everything that followed story wise was great, of course, but it would've been better if Amethar had shared this with Calroy of his own volition.

Agree to disagree. Brennan routinely sets up dominos to trigger on the players or takes things they come up with as bits and turns them into running themes. Also, not having a primary healer was a choice made for the game as a whole at its inception - Brennan talks explicitly about this in the extended version of this debate where he explains why bards as a DND class wouldn't necessarily fit in a Game of Thrones-style campaign; he and the Intrepid Heroes made a conscious choice to have the setting not feature certain staple elements of DND in order to affect the tone and stakes of every encounter and to affect the worldbuilding by having big displays of magic - like with Saccharina in the back half - be significant by their relative absence early on, and that to me is a perfectly legit use of DM's discretion.

Every single one of the d20 regular cast is obviously incredible in their own way Ally's characters are not always my favourite (to be honest, it's probably whatever Murph is playing), but each and every one of them has so many quotable lines that I end up remembering them more vividly than the other PCs
