Don't let it get to you. If your parent(s) are cool with it, it REALLY can be the financially smart thing to do for periods of time. Especially with purchasing homes/rent being what it is. And if you're coming from a low income background, you can't afford to not make smart decisions based on "optics". Pay rent. Don't become accustomed to the illusion that it's free. Better them than a stranger/landlord. Just accept it can be a turn off so don't date if your self esteem can't take the knocking and understand that even if your reasons are good, nobody really cares. Just work hard, be smart, and you'll have your freedom eventually. And make sure to say thanks to your folks when you move.

Get established with a skill set or a degree. Because an employer who knows you need your job will happily run you through the ringer with no fear of recourse. Listen. Kurt Cobain (R.I.P.) was probably at times an unemployed drug addict. He's definitely the second coming. All jokes aside proverbs 14:1 "the wise woman builds her house with her own hands. Real talk though, there's a stigma against dudes who live with their parent(s). But on the flip side, for women who live with their mom and or dad, no one bats an eye at the thought. I live in NYC, where most of my friends (both male and female) still live at home. Someone living with their folks isn't necessarily a red flag, it can be, when other relevant variables are applicable, but it doesn't inherently indicate any trouble. However, everything they mentioned in the video after that, were pretty huge, blood soaked red flags.
@cheri31
@cheri31 3 жыл бұрын
I think that's what made the skit pretty good. The first two "red flags" weren't real red flags. Living in your parent's house isn't a big deal (especially in this economy), nor is being friends with your ex. It is financially responsible and it does show maturity if you broke up on good terms. Then...holy shit. It really went from there.

Women are supposed to live at home if they are unmarried because it’s dangerous to live by yourself or without a man no matter how safe the neighborhood is. Some girls go to college and get used to dorming and want to live on their own and be “independent” but that’s not the safest way to be and pretty financially irresponsible. Men it is different because it’s safe for them to live with room mates or by themselves but if he needs to stack up living at home is fine just don’t date cuz it looks like you have no money to spend on a girl
@OK-yy6qz

@@ThingsILikke why would you need "money to spend on a girl" you're not buying a hooker you're dating. It definitely should be as acceptable as it is for a girl. I say for either person though it becomes a red flag after a certain age. Like if you're in your 30s(man or woman)and still live with your parents that tells me your job is not enough to sustain you and that's a problem. You're also very likely spoiled because you haven't really experienced how it is to live on your own

Tell me why this is actually kind of how us women can think. We only want to see the best in others. Some of us even lower our standards to accommodate to our partner that we love unconditionally. Word of advice: don’t love someone unconditionally,until you’re married and there’s a ring on your finger. (Aka a very hard to get out of commitment known as marriage)And never lower your standards for anyone!!!
@raychelorta2173
@raychelorta2173 3 жыл бұрын
@@D00MSLAYER yes. Of course you can love someone. But unconditionally? No matter what they do? Don’t express that kind of love until you’re married. Because marriage is a huge commitment. I expressed that with my ex boyfriend and I stood by him through things women would leave him for. And when I’d express emotional distress or insecurities (which were results of his past actions) he didn’t want to work on the relationship the way I did. It was very one sided. But if you’re married to someone,you both know divorce is messy,and expensive and would do more harm than good. So you’re forced to work on the relationship,you can’t just drop someone. And you both have to learn what unconditional love is. One of two things will happen: either you’ll both hate each others guts and just act single and eventually deal with a messy divorce, or you’ll genuinely work on things and re-learn how to love each other.

Lol, those first two red flags (living with parents, friends with ex) applied to me and my spouse respectively. When we met, I was living at home with my folks since I'd just moved back to our city, and she was living with her ex, with whom she's still great friends. He even ended up being the one to officiate our wedding. Yet, we're still perfectly happy together. Glad those red flags were totally not an issue for either of us. Hmmmmm, but now I'm thinking about getting a face tattoo while serving a 10 year prison sentence for stabbing someone while ghosting my wife. So maybe there was something to those red flags after all. lol :D Great video!

Well today's day and age, if two people meet, and they both have their own place, unless one of them is renting, or both are renting, it is very difficult for one of them to give up their life and move in with another.

How is living at home to save money so you can afford to buy a place a red flag? I did this from when I graduated uni till when I was 26 and saved 300k and then bought a condo. Most people I know are still renting and don't have any savings right now.

0:22 I just don't understand the cultural norm of the west and how they look at this matter. I'm 29 y.o. and live in my parents' house. Is it because I'm a failure? No, it's because I'm responsible. I'm responsible for my parents. They grew old and need someone to take care of them and keep their company. They still can carry themselves around normally. But for me it's the most irresponsible move to do that my parents made great sacrifices to raise me. And after all of that you're expecting me just to leave them when they're old and not return part of the favour? And no I'm not daddy's spoiled son. I have a very decent job and support my parents financially in addition to taking care of their daily needs

My ex dated abusive men for over twenty years: ex-cons, rogues, thugs. She had kids by one of them and has spent years hiding from him because he raped and tried to kill her. She has been abused and threatened by multiple lovers. She broke up with me for attempting to hold her accountable for those poor decisions. Butterflies are real.
