This is hard to watch. The internet has taught some people to be close-minded, be hostile for no good reason, and to never admit you're wrong.
@user-qu2bp8zt6fАй бұрын
you cannot say "the internet taught people..." as if you can blame the entire internet. for example, anyone who uses the internet intelligently can get the information they need, and those kind of people ends up being more open-minded, less hostile, and admit they have made mistakes
@MattMarkYTАй бұрын
@user-qu2bp8zt6f I wasn't blaming the entire internet. You didn't even attempt to ask or ponder on what I meant. This is what I mean by close-minded and hostile for no reason. I don't want to shame you though because everyone is fallible. The veil of anonymity and the constant negativity and the bad influences. That has ruined the internet. Negativity gets clicks, teaches people to be more negative. I'm lucky that I was recommended good influences by the algorithm. Educational channels, channels who speak about good morals. I was taught how to retroactively reflect on my actions nearly objectively. But on many parts of the internet, echo chambers and negativity is encouraged, sometimes explicitly, but often implicitly. I've fallen into it too.
@user-qu2bp8zt6fАй бұрын
@MattMarkYT you have already given out your explanations, which i have understood, but being the perfectionist that i sometimes am, i feel compelled to make a reply for those who could misinterpret your comment, that the internet itself is bad, leading it to be something that is better avoided. it would have been best if you had clarified by yourself, that not all parts of the internet are bad. i would even argue that you were being close-minded, and being hostile to my reply for no good reason. i do admit that my reply is hostile, but it has a good intent, a good reason to be there, and an open-minded person would see that i was only attempting to clarify about the internet, and point out your inaccuracy, which i had hoped that will make you understand and potentially get you to be more accurate in the future. my mistake was that i did not spend my time making my reply less hostile, but this time, you have your fault too, which was your mistake being that you assumed my complete disregard of your words. i simply did not choose to comment on the points you were trying to make, as i understood, and had nothing to say it about it, however, that does not mean i have disregarded it entirely, as i have made a reply which tried to clarify on what you have already commented

@MattMarkYTАй бұрын
@@user-qu2bp8zt6f Let me start this message by saying I have these kinds of discussions with my friends sometimes. When I disagree, it's purely to have a healthy discussion. That being said, let me begin. It's redundant to point out that I'm not talking the entire internet as we have all felt the positive impact of the internet. The very nature of the internet being virtual and anonymous is part of the issue making people more hostile. Therefore, technically the internet itself is part of the problem. That is what I meant. While I agree that my statement had an accuracy, I don't think it was the one you pointed out. I think my inaccuracy was saying "people" instead of "some people", which is why I've edited the comment. As for the claim that my comment is hostile, I can see why you interpreted it as hostile. I tried my best to push back while admitting my own faults. I just wanted you to realize what you had unintentionally done. That's why I added the comment on not shaming you. Also, I am someone who uses the internet to learn (e.g. coding, blender, etc.), but when I use it for entertainment, I eventually fall into negativity (like this video lol). I try to keep my algorithm on positive videos but it often tries to get me to watch negative videos. That is another issue with the algorithmic modern internet. You can't really escape it without going through a lot of effort or simply cutting back on internet usage. I don't think I'm an outlier here. I admit that I misinterpreted the message you wished to convey, which was to argue the semantics of my wording. Which, ironically, is why it's important to word things more clearly. I interpreted it as you assuming I was saying the entire internet is bad. As for you being a perfectionist, I don't think you are. You just wanted clearer communication. I get that :)

Some individuals mistakenly equate a high ratio of replies to a post with validation of its content. This perfectly demonstrates the ad populum fallacy, which incorrectly assumes truth based solely on popular belief. Aka: do your research.

It's not the fact that they're wrong, it's the fact that they are so confident and toxic in their wrongness and that they have the balls to shame and hate somebody for being right. And of course it's also the fact that they decided to get angry and write a stupid comment than spending 8 seconds on a google search

Reminds me of when Me and my friend argued over what W Rizz means. He was adamant that W Rizz means your bad at dating women. I looked up the definition, which said W Rizz means your good at dating women, told him the definition, AND HE STILL SAID THATS WRONG. I've never been more dumbfounded in my life, like I even did my research and he refused to change his mind because of his pride.

This is how you know folks lack education & it has been going on for quite some time and is still on the steady decline. Then again how much more declining can there be? Research is not in everybody's forte. But that public "rope" one is the wildest one I've ever seen on Twitter.
@gordonfreeman7187Ай бұрын
This is not true. The most educated people tend to be really stupid as seen from college campuses. The issue is actually that people only learn from the school curriculum and don't learn from real world experience and by doing their own research into things outside of what their teachers tell them. This leads to people being closed minded and considering it is on twitter many people refuse to admit their mistakes and refuse to do basic research. People want an enemy to harass online not to debate or to learn something new just someone they can use as a punching bag.
@ligmaguy521Ай бұрын
These people look at troll physics videos and then recommend them as educational.
@teiull9388Ай бұрын
@@gordonfreeman7187 what do you mean by "as seen from college campuses" while yes, public schools don't really reward critical thinking, a lot of college majors do, stuff like computer or cognitive science, literature, art, etc. besides stuff like math and literature is important to learn to be able to think critically and analyse information, the big issue is how school is inherentlyl extrinsic motivation wise, and in fact punishes you for failure, which makes being wrong seem like a bad thing you are punished for, instead of what it is in reality(a chance to grow and become better) if school was more intrisnsicly motivated, and put more focus on learning from mistakes in place of making no mistakes, it would work way better.
@gordonfreeman7187Ай бұрын
@teiull9388 A lot of colleges push political beliefs and don't allow for critical thinking. Mostly an American problem. You can tell by the amount of people getting useless degrees, the pointless protests that take places in these campuses over something that does not effect them and they have no control over, the fact many people once graduating struggle to get a job with their degree (unless it is STEM or medical).
