My parents paid the mortgage on my grandmas house for 13 years. When she died my parents only received their portion of the estate from a division of five ways. My parents gifted me their house when I started dumping money into it because they didn’t want the same thing to happen to me.

I remember Dave saying that if you put something into a trust, depending on the type, you have to have permission from the trustee to do anything. Her parents are in their 70s. They could live till they're in their 90s. And they need a will. And everybody in the family should know what it says. And if they're putting it in a trust to avoid nursing home costs, that's fraud.

If this lady wants to go to nursing school she can be a care tech at a hospital and most hospitals will pay for most of school. My daughter and I did not may more than $2,000 for a 2 year RN degree and are working as RNs while getting a BSN.

@@rachelkruse9087 Rachel, let's be real. She's working part time at s Thrift Store and her Husband is working at Taco Bell. They've collectively made some pretty poor choices regarding education and having any sort of passion regarding work. I've got three words for them: Public School System. Meaning anyone go go to School. If you choose to not take school seriously and not learn or go then this is where you end up as adults. At a Thrift Store or Flipping Burgers.

If you want to be a nurse work as a CNA, and get your prerequisites and everything paid by your hospital or nursing home that you work at. I was not working at a menial job, but a decent job and decided to have a career path change at age 40, and I took a pay cut to work a CNA job. I learned so much of my patient care and I think the best nurses start as techs. Even so, if she doesn't make it through a nursing school CNAs get paid more than what she is making and can get a lot more hours in overtime.

I want to take CDL school. While some Truck companies have py as you go. Department of labor will work with you on a Grant. Just weigh your options and make the best decision. It's easy to calculate the cost and squeeze my income nto the pay as you go option. But it just extracts your financial resources while still working a full-time job

The Parent Plus Loan situation - apparently the parents must have taken out the loan(s) for her UNDERgraduate degree, not her law school degree, because she states she was just 18 at the time. The parents would have already been paying on it for a while if that is the case b/c Parent Plus Loans (the worst kind) have to be paid back starting immediately, not after the student's graduation. Take heed, other parents - NEVER TAKE OUT A PARENT PLUS LOAN. If your kid needs a Parent Plus Loan, your child is going to a college that is too expensive and less expensive options abound. This attorney can also start investigating teaching paralegal studies virtually to earn some extra money. it is now possible to teach in other states by Zoom. She can also investigate going into the military to pay her loans and then pay her Dad's loans.

Trusts are not a good idea. It makes people greedy. Especially when one is building, or living on a structure in the trust. Tell your parents to gift you that house before the trust is finalized.
