The secret is to add more butter than you think you need and use whole milk. Whip them to a smooth consistancy. Thickness should be smack in the middle between biscuit dough and pudding.
@AlbertaRose944 жыл бұрын
@@teresasevy1563 But what about how to make them smooth? Do you use a potato masher? A big spoon? Dirty up the Kitchen Aide Mix Master? Go down to the basement into the camping equipment bin and get the hand mixer? Do you wish the frick you had never opened your mouth about mashed potatoes when the only special occasion is the fact you, your husband and son are visiting your parents. Do you start to think about the fact your parents live on an acreage in the back country and...… never mind.

If you have the good old fashioned squiggly looking masher, use that, otherwise the kitchen aid does the best job. Spoons meet too much resistance for a good mixing job.

A few years back I got a special set of Southern measuring spoons, & I keep them with my regular ones. They're made for everyone whose grandma told or wrote their recipe with the words smidge, pinch, or dash in the amounts. Supposedly they actually had a large number of grandmas show in person how much one of these was & then measured with standard measurements to compare. So what most considered a pinch is now an actual specific amount that you can reasonably rely on if you have one of these recipes! 😂 Yeah, I've heard so many people complain about their moms, especially Southern moms, doing this! Starting from not being allowed to even use a different dish to cook it in, to practically taking over doing it themselves, you got it down.
