A few years back I got a special set of Southern measuring spoons, & I keep them with my regular ones. They're made for everyone whose grandma told or wrote their recipe with the words smidge, pinch, or dash in the amounts. Supposedly they actually had a large number of grandmas show in person how much one of these was & then measured with standard measurements to compare. So what most considered a pinch is now an actual specific amount that you can reasonably rely on if you have one of these recipes! 😂 Yeah, I've heard so many people complain about their moms, especially Southern moms, doing this! Starting from not being allowed to even use a different dish to cook it in, to practically taking over doing it themselves, you got it down.

Talia Lin’s Mom playing Diana’s mom. Mind blowing. Loved it all. I loved the times Talia’s kids have been in the videos, but to have her mom play “mom” is so awesome. I fell in love with this Channel because of these characters. Send Matt my thanks for bless your rank and back porch bickering.

I’ve learned that the easy thing to do is just take mom to a nice restaurant. She orders what makes her happy, and results in zero chaos and yelling.

Man, my mother watched me struggle with the cookie dough and when I figured it out and told her, she admitted she knew how to, she just wanted me to get there on my own. I was in the kitchen for hours!!!!

@@shawnephipps I must have been the weirdo because I made desserts like cookies and cobblers all on my own with no guidance as a kid. Didn't cook anything else but I wanted desserts and no one else was going to make them so off I went. ;)

My dad was the chef when he was home from the road. He made the best breakfasts and THE best ribs I've ever eaten. My mom wasn't the best of Southern cook but at least she didn't kill us. Her butter beans and cornbread with cracklings was good.

I feel like I am that Mom ( I act like that) when I am particular about a recipe! Lol:) plus my kitchen is a "one butt" kitchen, so I need all the space when I'm in there. Another great video! Thanks so much!

Just remembering the first time I made Thanksgiving Dinner..."by myself". My mother arrived at 7 am.."to visit" while I cooked. She directed the whole meal preparation . During dinner she leaned over and whispered that there was to much sage in the dressing and not enough sugar in the homemade yeast rolls. Lol
