@ They made some decent torque, my only issue was oil consumption, the valve guides and seals left a lot to be desired. They fixed those issues with the introduction of the 400, in 1967, the 389-421 seemed to have the same problems. Still great engines though.

@ I loved my 63, in my opinion of that style Pontiac, it was the cleanest with the sharpest lines. I wish I had the means to keep and store that car back then, but I was just a young pup. I’ve never seen another like it, had the front two buckets with the console, the the rear seat was also two seat with a divider, all factory appearing, it was early 1969 when I owned it, so I don’t know if it was factory made that was, I do know the upholstery was definitely factory.

Nice, Dezzy!! Maybe the Pontiac Historical Society would have the information. Gordy Baumgart, owner of a local tire dealership, owned a number of unusual Pontiacs like this. 421s with 4 speeds. A couple of wagons. Some two doors and one 4 door sedan. They'd be out front of his dealership. I'd walk past them on the way home from school. Great stuff!!

Back in 1965, a rich high school friend of mine got to choose his first car as a graduation present. He asked for a new Chevrolet Chevelle station wagon. He also asked for the following options- A/C, power steering, brakes, windows and seats, tinted glass, a rather bland bronze paint finish and matching vinyl and cloth interior. He also asked for a 327 with fuel injection, police package suspension and tires, tachometer and vacuum gauge. The dealer sent the car to B & M Hydro in Los Angeles to fit in one of their custom hydromatics with manual shift. He ended up with definitely the hottest station wagon in southern California. He once took us on a banzai run up the 606 Freeway at about 130 mph. Quite a graduation present.

Wow - love perfomance wagons like that. That DDA paint code is vague, tried doing a little searching. I found somewhere stating that was a 'light yellow green', but I just can't see that with a blue interior. Silvermist Ivory and Cameo White were Pontiac colors that year, and those would make sense with that interior. Maybe just faded and yellowed with rust over the years. Also would love to know what gears are in that locking diff! Awesome video of an awesome car, man - thanks!

In late '62, a local guy ordered a '63 Ford 500 XL convertible, red with white top, red interior, 390 with tri-power & 4-speed. That motor was for the M-series T-Bird. It was rated at 340 hp. What a wagon!! If I had found it I would have pulled out the engine for a firebird 😂😂.

So it appears that it really is a good thing you weren't the one to find or purchase this unique gem. You obiviously would have ruined this one-of-a-kind station wagon for a run of the mill, dime a dozen, firebird that nobody would give a s*** about or look at twice. What a incredibly stupid post.

@@jaynecobb6711 a station wagon isn't something for factory performance engines. I'm 65 now and I've ruined quite a few Camaros and firebird's in my time making quarter mile street machines. So a wagon would have been nothing to me. Your only looking at it from today's perspective. I've regretted ruining my cars over the years, but I had lots of fun doing it. I cringe today seeing people ls swap old cars. The first Camaro I screwed up was a 67 RS/SS 4 speed 327 325 HP with tilt wheel which was rare in a standard transmission car . Most of the cars I ruined were only 10 to 15 years old when I did it. So you should rethink how you insult people via the Internet when you know nothing about them. Then the only dime a dozen cars are mustangs. Pure junk.

That car richly deserves a top-quality repaint. There is no excuse for wanting it to be kept 'patina'. That is a slovenly excuse for avoiding a terrific refinish.

It's only original once, period. Painting this car would absolutely ruin it!

@@DezzysSpeedShop Paint that is barely peering thru all that rust that is slowly destroying the body and structure of that unique station wagon. Patina is rust and decay. There is nothing to admire about rust and decay on a automobile, if you want to preserve it for another 60 years.

Rust is NOT patina.. It will eventually eat through and destroy the structure of the vehicle.. It accelerates over time..

5 mpg, 😅 crush it! You can't afford to drive it or paint it, no way will an insurance company cover it to drive the thing. Take your puctures but it's ugly.
