My fireman partner of 18 yrs recently ( with s great pension) recently passed away. For many years he didn’t want to marry because of his first marriage, as time went by sometimes he would mention it without much enthusiasm so eventually I bought my own house. He was a mechanic, Plummer, could tile ect. He helped me with all those things on my house which I will always appreciate I wish I had Adriennes good advice back then, because even with his help the US thing never was really there, very sad 18 yes. He wants my love, support, all the benefits of a romantic relationship etc but insists we are just friends. This is why we are scared, I finally put my foot down on this guy who wouldn't even commit to date only me after 2.5 years of keeping me as a FWB I said if you want to keep seeing me choose only me. If not I cannot continue seeing you if you want to continue to pursue other women. What do you think his response was? "I understand". In other words he is not going to commit to me. Which I hope he leaves me alone and stop trying to suck me in anymore because I get weak.

Yes I found all this out the hard way that if you are sharing a home with someone and their name is on the deed but you're not then you get nothing but the trick here is to make sure that your name goes on the deed as well and that your name goes on anything that is important even if you're not married you can still legally do this I found this out because I don't want to get legally married ever again but by law if my name is on everything like the house and the insurance policies in the retirement account that I'm still entitled to all that so for those of you who don't want to get married know that there is another way of doing it

I must say even though I don't agree with everything, I do like a couple of your points especially about the feminine energy! As a man, I do seem more attracted to more feminine women then the "Tomboy" type women. My wife seems to absorb all the testosterone I'm losing so she tends to be in her masculine energy most of the time. Sometimes I wish she would be more feminine, that would attract me more especially if she can open up and let me in so that our "Relationship" can start going somewhere after 20 years of marriage!
@stoneyvowell12395 жыл бұрын
@@LS-im6uc I've been trying to do that for 20 years she's too set in her ways and does not want to open up and be vulnerable! She's happy where she's at and doesn't want to relinquish any of the control that she fought to keep for so long. We're even supposed to doing couples therapy but that doesn't seem to go anywhere either.
@sumari9725 жыл бұрын
Have you considered getting near to her while she is busy with her stuff, if she would ask you what you are doing hier, just say, I love to be next to you... and STAY there, and don`t even try to get in ;-) And touch her only if she comes closer, but in a very soft, feminine way ;-) If you want to see that side of the mirror, you have to display it in some way in your approach to her.
@stoneyvowell12395 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advice. All very good points and stuff I've been trying. Most of the time it works as far as keeping things superficial! We have been superficial for 20 years and the sex is the only thing that keeps us going and the kids and what money I make, like most average couples. At times she shows me a side that wants more, and most of my sides want more out of the relationship as well! But that side is very rare and hard-to-find in her. Which leads me more into why I'm watching your videos to get in touch with my feminine side too. So that I may not only be able to bring out that side in her more often but also understanding that I have a feminine side as well that needs to figure something out! But I should say that I guess our biggest problem is that we are both very avoidant and afraid of change! We are currently seen a counselor of sorts to kind of figure out some of our shared issues together, but it's a very slow and expensive process! I feel that most of our issues we could work together on at home with resources from the internet just like this one to not only help us get in touch with our feminine sides but also figure a lot other things out as well!?

@@LS-im6uc How can honoring your own feelings be emotional blackmail? If you want to get married and he doesn't you must leave for your own well-being. In fact the Men that want to get all the benefits of being married without out the social finacial or legal responsibilites of being married are the ones being emotionally manipulative. To me that is emotional blackmail. They are hedging their bets with you. They get to feel like a Husband/Man without taking any risk, while you keep investing your time, energy and money in a relationship that could very well go no where, and literally leave you with nothing.

Every video I watched of a guy not being sure what to do, the solution is always walk away. No easy way around it. My plan is to give it 3 months. We co parent so I’m going to keep it minimal. Once a week for picking up our child and dropping them off. After the 3 months is up? I’ll be ok either way. I either have a 3 month head start to move on or he comes back to me.

Can you make a video about those of us who did the breaking up because we saw it coming? You mentioned in one of your videos that Your husband’s parents died back to back and he went into a depression. My boyfriend’s mom died suddenly suddenly, and though it was grief that initiated the distance between us, he has begun to heal and find himself, While continuing to starve me from attention and affection, even common courtesy. I went through all the stages of grief, anger, begging and pleading until I realized he is detached after 3 months of this behavior. I tried to break up..but he would not cut the cord, It was as if I’d become a security blanket and he checked in with me daily to make sure I was still around waiting for him. It was emotional torture. I abruptly cut off all contact and ended it. I asked him to not reach out anymore (it hurts too much to talk about nothing with someone I thought was my best friend). It has been two days and he is now reaching out to my daughter. I know I have hurt him, he was not expecting me to do this (out of character for me)but my intentions were to give him space and allow him to miss me. We had an amazing relationship before his mom passed, he was just about to move in after 10 months together. The situation seems unique to the videos that I’ve been watching and I can’t get a clear answer of what to do. Now I’m feeling like I might have made a mistake ..but I’m continuing no contact bc I clearly laid out my requests and he knows what I need from him. I feel like I abandoned him

Let me just submit that you can still end up getting screwed over and end up with nothing if you are married. I came out of a twelve year marriage destroyed after we had built an empire out of nothing. He was diagnosed with Antisocial Personality disorder and narcissistic personality disorder. Marrying him was the biggest mistake of my life, but it was an education. Devoted the next ten years to learning everything about how I ended up there so I could teach women and men how to recognize disordered people before the abuse begins. I talk about how staying in the feminine is actually great protection from false masculine "Macho" emotionally immature man sized toddlers.

For example: I asked a guy (who is a policeman)"May I blink your eye at work?" He said "Yeah,but I can't promise to respond you." I asked him "At least you wouldn't fine me for that?" He said "I do not do fines, my colleague does it." I asked "A fine for blinking an eye😄?" And he answered "Well,this would be harassment a policeman😁".. and so on. I disagree the very first phrase a girl should learn before she ever goes on a date is "I don't have sex outside of committed relationships" because you would be saying this if you question his level of commitment, when he is asking for sex and you are not yet comfortable with it. I view this phrase as a crucial boundary, in Adrienne's terms your line in the sand.
@AdrienneEverheart5 жыл бұрын
You can have that boundary within you and it need not be announced or warned beforehand. Use it when you need it, IF that is your boundary. Otherwise be curious where a man takes things, let it unfold. Sex moves at your pace, not his.

No, Adrienne. Im not scared to ask a man about marriage. But if I did ask, then should I be down on my knee and have a ring prepared for him as well? I don't want to swap the roles.
@AdrienneEverheart5 жыл бұрын
Asking about marriage isn't the same as asking him to marry you. It's opening up the dialogue about it, especially if he's never mentioning marriage and it's something you want. I go deeper into this, and other related topics, in my 500 Ways to Talk to a Man eBook: bit.ly/500waysbook XO!

We were dating short term(3 months) everything was great, and then he told me he is not serious and is not ready, yet wants to be with me as he feels happy around me.. but somehow i managed to say it upfront that i don't want anything casual and stopped interacting. No Texts, no calls, not even asking anything. I hope i did something right. I just felt he was way too confused and didn't want to string along. Do you think i have chances? I know i am being too optimistic here 🥴

My ex was willing to give me 50 percent of everything until a lawyer told him he didn't have to because I earned more that he did and supported him the whole time we were married and despite the fact that we were together 10 years and had a child. I ended up with only the deposit for a new place, that's it.

It was only when we were married and I was pregnant that he told me that he could barely support us both while I wasn't able to work but he hid it from me and I didn't care enough about money before we got married to inquire.

@@sarahjaynescott545 No, marriage is no guarantee. I do think the more work we can do on our own self-esteem and self-worth, getting in touch with our own 'inner world" then the more in tune with our instincts we will be, and hopefully, the better we will be able to sniff out the users before they get a chance to hook us in.

Erica Bassi that’s terrible. If you out earn a man by even $1 this can happen. You can get legal nuptial agreements at any time. Including in case of death you can request an autopsy. Think of everything and hire a good attorney to write your agreement.

Oh wow your story is such an eye opener. Thank you for sharing. Met a guy since December last year we been dating. we went exclusive to be a boyfriend and girlfriend by the end of February, he took o. Holidays for a week. Was awesome spending time together. We came back and was ready to move forward and wanted me to meet his kids (fostered kids) , that he stay with. He then organized a dinner at his place, all went well. We all went on a camping /Fishing Trip with the kids, just to get to know each better and spend time. Also was a great weekend. Now I don't know if it's the right time to ask about the future of our relationship? Again, on own He knows that I want to be married one day and be a mother of my own children. He is okay and wants to be a parent with me one day. I also would like your advice on how do I feature in his kids life? He is really involved with them and he is doing a great job. I hope I got my questions through clearly. Thank you Helena

Adrienne, Love your site! My guy and I have been together since last November. He is in Fla Nov - April and upstate NY April - Nov. We had a wonderful time together, a few days a week and all weekend. We are now in a LD committed relationship, his idea,. We FT and talk a few days a week. I am going to see him for a week in July, a break from the Fla heat! I'm feeling a bit disconnected from him because when we speak, instead of lovey dovey convos, it's more about the daily ins and outs of everyday life, a few laughs, and then blows me a kiss goodbye. I would like to know where we are headed but I'm not sure if we've spent enough time together to bring this up. I would love to know your thoughts. Thank you!

Honey marriage means nothing , I was married and my ex husband was on dating sites all the tome , 24 hours after I left the house , he was already going out with all kind of women . I have everything to him and lost it all , the marriage me at nothing at all to him . I would never ever have another man in my house , cleaning after him , giving all to him , listening to his snore , cleaning the dirty bathroom! Marriage does not mean love , commitment our anything , sorry .

Adrienne Everheart's Love Academy but do you really think that having someone every day , snoring and all the time in the house does not damage the passion ? Also you are a successful woman and you are not afraid of being married and you husband to decide to divorce you and then ask for spousal support ? I lost everything I had being married and I could not wait to be divorced so I would not be responsible for his bills anymore ... you always say that marriage is kind of a safety thing for a woman , but is that right ? If tomorrow your husband does not love you anymore and he wants you to pay alimony? Not sure , sorry .
