@@outresru7751 if you have not heard of the East India Trading Company - imagine if all the Silicon Valley tech companies combined, but were also granted the full legal protection of the British Empire, at its height to basically do whatever they wanted. This includes, but was not limited to, raising full armies, invading and conquering entire countries, and being granted the right to tax the populous of those conquered states. They were granted "trading monopoly" over both China and India, meaning that essentially all trade for both of those very substantial countries was owned by this one company - and it's estimated 15% of all trade in the Empire went through The East India Company. I cannot think of any corporation before or since that even comes close to the level of power this company was granted, albeit to the benefit of the British Crown at all times.
@AbeZchannel2 жыл бұрын
@@outresru7751 Basically (from an uneducated, not totally studied at all point of view), it basically means if you were to consider companies as their own countries, they would have more money than some countries, and with more money usually comes more power. Like how the Vatican City works within Rome. In the past, the East India Trading Company was a company exporting spices from India, and had so much wealth that at some point in time it could reasonably (and probably did) have its own army and navy to control parts of India because they wanted natural resources from that area. again, wasn't looked up, just vaguely remembering what I've heard.

Sending money from the one side of the world to the other side of the world without a third party is pretty big imo. People working abroad and sending money back home pay so much in fees using WesternUnion etc etc.. Bitcoin - crypto, is here to change the world and it already changed the lives of many.
@studioviper30162 жыл бұрын
To me, the value of bitcoin is that there will only ever be 21 million bitcoins. No central bank can print more bitcoins. How is anyone meant to make a good life for themselves when their own government is knowingly debasing your money so that it's worth less and less each year? Last time I checked, no one is getting a payrise that keeps up with the true cost of inflation. Moving from fiat to bitcoin would take away the banks power to do this. And just like real estate and gold, wouldn't you rather own a hard asset that goes up in value the longer you hold it? Why would anyone want to own something that depreciates?
@VincentHondius2 жыл бұрын
Crypto takes away power from banks and countries. Bitcoin has a finite supply which protects your buying power against inflation created by the government. Governments also can't censor any crypto transactions. It also provides access to digital money to those that don't have access to a bank account (big deal in less developped countries). Also, banks currently basically give 0% interest, while they speculate with your money and inflation eats away your buying power. In decentralized finance, you can get the interest you deserve

Use stable coins that are pegged to the dollar. I would never use my Bitcoin to purchase anything directly due to its fluctuation. Buy/sell through stable coins. Stake your stable coin on Anchor protocol for 20%’ish APY. Where can you find that in the worlds banks? I don’t agree with her statements entirely but holistically some of her points hold. And as mentioned, just like stocks, there is always going to be whales who can control and manipulate everything. They have billions of dollars and buy the supply. When they sell, it dumps. This can never be regulated or controlled. It’s their money. Unless it becomes a law that you can’t sell more than xxxx coins per day. Highly doubt that’ll happen. Everyone overlooks that institutional investing is occurring in crypto. They believe in it and brought it to the stock market to gain global adoption to invest. The gateway to crypto is that noobs don’t know how to buy or sell. We’re still in the adoption phase.

22:24 This woman is not wrong about the fact that we subsidize corporations; but, Tesla isn't one of them. They took a loan and paid it back with interest. Also, it was just Millions of dollars, not Billions of dollars. So, like a thousand times less than the claim here. The issue America has of not getting "it's money's worth" out of taxes is, that we don't have a uniform governmental system. States make their own tax laws on top of the federal income tax. This allows them of course to make their own expenditures and subsidies. But, let's be honest, the people of Texas subsidize Dell Computers directly, since they pay no local taxes as afforded by their original contract to keep Dell headquartered in Texas. But, the rest of the country only "subsidizes" it indirectly, since all government computers have to be American with American support contracts. This ensures that the company always has an income; but, it this isn't technically a subsidy.

I hope they talk about other crypto in this series. Bitcoin is really it's own beast that is really primarily viewed as 'internet legal tender'. The rest of the crypto world is all about the tech. Think of Bitcoin as a large gold brick for the internet. Think of Ethereum like it's Apple in the late 70s. Both offer money making opportunities, but only one of these two really thinks about how to evolve beyond that.

She says it happens all the time but if it did crypto advocates would have better evidence than saying, believe me, I know it happens, someone on the internet told me it did, which is what most of their claims come down to and is why they can't actually give real numbers. It likely happens so rarely that no one really bothers to keep track of it. And why would it be common it doesn't work any better for a woman in Afghanistan than just having a foreign back account, in many ways it is worse considering the fees and time it takes to process the transaction. This is how most stuff with crypto work, it rarely is an actual solution to anything so anytime someone doesn't give a real answer to a question you can usually assume that it doesn't actually solve the problem they are claiming it does, at least not any better than other systems and they are just trying to sell you on crypto to make their investment go up.

They love hierarchical societies that oppress them and give their lives meaning. All throughout history, auth-right systems have won out and will repeatedly so till the end of human race. The only thing that could possibly change history is the invention of truly objective AI by being programmed by AI. Smart contracts are a small slice of that objectivism these objectivists desire.
