We are considering retirement in TN, so healthcare needs as we age is pretty important. I'm not sure your video actually sold us to settle in this area. No matter what the beautiful scenery is, low taxes or mild year round climate, when you need a good doctor or medical care, nothing is more important.

When we moved to the area, we chose Telford due to its proximity to the JC Medical Center since two of our daughters have a chronic neurological issue. We liked the fact that it has what had been reported to be a great children’s hospital attached and felt comfortable moving here with that knowledge. However, when we did end up having to take both of our girls in for emergency treatment at different times, we were extremely disappointed with the quality of care. Among other shortcomings, we found out that JC Medical Center didn’t even have a pediatric neurologist on staff at the time! This is supposed to be a “major” medical center??!! We actually considered moving back to FL after those experiences. Thankfully, we (on our own) found good doctors in the area, and through their advocacy, our girls received the care they needed. I remain completely underwhelmed with the healthcare system in this area due to other issues we’ve had and we’re still considering a move back to FL.

We have a dog and she is part of our family so I can understand your concern. There are plenty of vet offices both large and small. There is also a 24/7 animal hospital.

We certainly have cardiologist and Johnson City Medical has a Heart Hospital.

Great information, thank you! Do you know what insurances they take in Johnson City? We're thinking about moving there with my husband and would like to know if our insurance will work there, especially if we decide to have a baby there, medical bill can be very high for hospital birth. I have Cigna and it's covered here in PA. Would it be easy to find in-network Cigna providers there?

40 miles south. Newport hospital is with out doctors. NO urologist. Umerious sub standard doctors.
