For 6 yrs I’ve been trying to move out towards TN from N CA and finally have the chance come Feb. Tryna transfer my cleaning business and get situated as I’m fond of Tennesseans and the surrounding area. Johnson City and Jonesborough are right up my alley as I come from a small gold mining town of 3k

I feel very sorry for Tennessee. Californians have ruined many states, including the one they come from. Looks like they are trying hard to kill TN.

I’m was born and raised in California till I was 32, I’m 48 now. I currently live in Michigan but will be moving to Tennessee next year. That being said, CA has been expensive forever. In the early 2000’s I remember gas getting close to $5 a gallon although I didn’t hear of a mass migration to TN. At that time, the migration was north to OR, WA and ID. It would seem that since COVID, the migrations then pivoted to the east.

Shortly after Hurricane Helene, My family and I fled Florida due to Hurricane Milton… we visited our daughter in Bean Station. What I loved about TN is that all the restaurants and sight seeing places gave opportunities to donate to those in NC! What lovely caring people. I also want to publicly attest to the owner of the house our daughter rented, as they opened up another floor that they don’t rent out, just for us and only charged the cleaning fee. One week of relief from a generous spirit. We are very thankful for their generosity. Others (FEMA) we’re not helpful, in my experience as we had flooding and losses and they refused to help. Americans in this part of the U.S. are lovely community caring people. We are very grateful for the good.

On the side of politics it’s good to hear people aren’t very vocal. Republicans where I live in Florida, it’s their whole personality. Vote for who you want, don’t try to convince me who to vote for.

Lived in Johnson City in the late 60s while my husband did his Masters degree at ESU. Great school but no mention in your video. Prepared him well for his doctorate in California. He became a university professor in his home town in Northern Ontario. Just finished Demon Copperhead and became nostalgic for your wonderful area.

Very interesting video. Shad, I was born, raised and still live in Indiana and an IU grad as well :) My parents are from SWVA and I have family in Kingsport, Johnson City, and Surgoinsville TN. I recall the long drives from the Tri-Cities airport as a kid visiting my grandparents in the 70s. The last time I visited the area was in 2019 and the mountains are beautiful!

Everyone on this thread thinking of moving here needs to think twice as the healthcare here is the worst Ive ever dealt with. I was an ICU nurse in Florida and this is the worst Ive seen in the US. We are thinking of moving closer to Knox county for the UT medical center which would break my heart because everything else up here is perfect, but you can’t play with your health.

Amazing video, A friend of mine referred me to a financial adviser sometime ago and we got talking about investment and money. I started investing with $120k and in the first 2 months , my portfolio was reading $274,800. Crazy right!, I decided to reinvest my profit and gets more interesting. For over a year we have been working together making consistent profit just bought my second home 2 weeks ago and care for my family....

I barely have time to trade myself as my job swallows up most of my time. *MARGARET MOLLI ALVEY* , a licensed fiduciary whom has made me over 5 figures in profit in less than seven months, handles my investments. For me I want to live in a conservative free state like Tennessee. You couldn’t pay me to live in an autocratic blue state. Florida is currently a free state but a good reason for this is Governor DeSantis. He is term limited. He barely defeated a socialist candidate in his first run so there is a communist undercurrent in Florida politics. With the influx of New Yorkers who probably moved there to escape confiscatory taxes, not government philosophy, everything could change for the worse. I love the ocean and seafood but I also like the change of seasons. Except for super hot Texas most of the income tax free states have harsh winters. Tennessee seems like the Goldilocks solution. BTW: I pay close to $10,000/year in property taxes in suburban Philadelphia.
