Working as a Millwright for over 10 years, I remember the stink of burnt gear all too well. We didn't have the work gloves that are available today, and the smell of the oil lingered on my hands for a few days no matter how many times I washed them. Excellent video :) Edited, I guess I can't spell today!

I have watched your videos for a while. I find your comments on the engineers funny. I worked at Toyota building the Tundra for years on frame side. At least I got to work on them before the body was installed. But still ran into problems if a component needed to be replaced further down the line, not fun at all, so I feel your pain my friend. Keep up the good work and I will be watching.

21:38 bearing had constant upwards pressure due to the rotational action of the ring gear, coupled with lack of fresh lube and you have a bearing go bye bye. I forget what model it was, but there was one in the 70's that chewed through pinion bearings due to straight cut gears would constantly force the pinion off the ring gear. I think that's also why they went to helical cut gears and changed the shape of the teeth on the ring gear.

I'm pleased with my 04 Corolla. It has 263000 on it and was totaled in 2014. I didn't bother fixing it because it was kept to be our backup car. It has the original alternator and starter. I did put a set of brushes in the starter a few years ago. I figured that 10 bucks for brushes was a lot cheaper than $175 for a rebuilt starter. I only have one complaint because it gets rid of 2 quarts of oil between oil changes. My 91 Nissan Sentra was only using half a quart every 5000 miles at 395,000 miles. I guess they don't make them like they used to.

Getting cars stolen from you has to be one of the scummiest things in the world. Tacking on tows of $400-600. Legalzed extortion. I know an elderly woman whom the apartment manager called the predatory tow companyy on for a petty reason, got a kickback for it. And does it whever she wants money. I've heard car not wheel touching line, flat tire, one person had covered accidentally their permit and they got towed. And this is a tinyy gated senior community!! With spaces to spare! Hope they don't have someone hurt their moms and dads like that!

I was doing the front lower arms on my Renault Megan a couple of years ago. The bolts were fitted where you would have to drop the front subframe to remove the bolts. I cut the bolt heads off with an angle grinder and fitted new bolts coming in from the other side 🎉 Gear oil is NASTY
@vehcor11 ай бұрын
I had a similar issue with a diff on a Pontiac vibe. 21 hours to change because you had to separate the engine and trans. That is, unless you used an angle grinder to remove 1/4 inch of casting material on the block. Then the job was 3 hours.
