Oh, my goodness! I can't believe you've finally gotten around to listening to Miss Janet! I thought you'd need smoke signals to get your attention. 😋 My girl is an absolute icon, and her charisma, style, and influence have literally shaped the modern pop landscape. With that said... ::: clears throat ::: ... "Where Are You Now?" is one of Janet's purest songs to date. The casual, breezy instrumentation and the crystalline tone of her voice convey a measured, disarming sincerity - a sincerity that goes beyond mere heartfelt emotion. To put it frankly, I love this song. It's a hidden gem from the janet. album, a successor to Rhythm Nation's "Come Back to Me," that actually received quite a bit of unofficial airplay on NYC radio in 1993. Given the influential role of the NYC market, I assume it probably garnered airplay across the country, despite never being released as an official single. Yes, can you believe "Where Are You Now" wasn't a single? Well, I can believe it. You see, at that time, Janet was dominating the charts, and every single was a smash hit. With six bonafide hits and a number of other album cuts that radio stations decided to play unofficially (hello, "THROB"!), there may not have been room for Virgin Records to push "Where Are You Now" as a single. But dammit, this song is beautiful, adlibs and all! 😉

IA. This is "Come Back To Me" part 2, but it isn't as elegant.
