I just want to add something about the bible that wasn't mentioned by Tim Mackie but only because he was concentrated on the subject he was teaching. God inspired the writers of the bible, but He also confirmed His word through His Holy Spirit. Lets remember that in the new testament the Apostle Paul said that the message of the gospel of salvation was not only words but it was also Power, the power of God, the power of His Holy Spirit to transform the lives of those will would believe in Jesus and submit to His authority. The apostles preached but also were used to do signs and wonders through the Holy Spirit to confirm God's word and power to people. Lets remember that the gospel is the power of God, and that the entire bible is the record of all the works, wonders, and power of God which He has manifested throughout history, and until the day of the Lord.

Man, you are amazing! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with me... I'm from Guatemala, and here is so difficult to learn more about the Bible. There are few people here who are interested in these kinds of questions, and these questions confused me a lot... Sometimes, I felt like I was losing faith. Your passion and your knowledge have to come to the western world... I'm learning to read, listen and speak English, cuz the material to learn more about the Bible is so poor in my mother tongue, or I don't think it is complete. Thank you for being a guide for many people around the world. Get on with your work, because the world needs to hear it. May God bless you, and your family and congregation too.

That's a fascinating testimonial Roberto. It must be very difficult sometimes being somewhat alone and isolated in your faith. We know that 'Narrow is the way and few be there that find it' but I do want to encourage you my brother in Christ that there are millions and millions of us though miles separate us we are indeed walking along the same divinely lit path you are on. My name is Mike and I extend the hand of fellowship to you we have in Christ our Lord. Psalm 18:28; "You, LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light." To God be the Glory! Amen ✝

@lutkedog1
@lutkedog1 4 жыл бұрын
But your jesus is a remake, starting with the gospel according to mark written after 30AD and the other gospels accumulating within the next few hundred years. The fact that nothing was written at the time is suspect enough for me, the outlandish and contradicting stories of the gospels are fake. And jesus is mentioned nowhere in the OT along with the word "Resurrection", I have been asking christians where are all those broken tombs of the saints who were raised at the same time as jesus, Matthew 27:53, and coming out of the graves after His resurrection,: they went into the holy city ... And they not recorded by any contemporary sources and that is again suspect enough for me.
@asaeriksson6007
@asaeriksson6007 4 жыл бұрын
@@lutkedog1 This is of course a matter of faith, like almost everything, and faith is a gift. But faith builds on the Word of JEHOVAH and in Psalm 16:10 I'd say that David obviously speaks about the Messiah (for David himself is dead and buried) . "For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol, nor will You let Your Holy One see decay." That's enough reference to the resurrection of the Messiah in my eyes, but also the story of Jonah in the belly of the fish and Joseph delivered from the jail and raised to the ledaing man in Egypt (as a Messianic reference) points to the same fact. May JEHOVAH bless you with faith in His only begotten Son. Prov 30:4 "Who has ascended to heaven and come down? Who has gathered the wind in His hands? Who has bound up the waters in His cloak? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is the name of His Son- surely you know!"

I know its real, it just underlines it again and again.. God know what is best for us, as we dont. He is so much wiser than we are. He gives us these chores and team works with Him, cause it makes all the good things from Him to us alive in our daily walk with Him and with each other. Thank you also for being humble although you are very edicated. I also suck at being human many times ;-) But my heart is right and will continue seeking God and His Kingdom first. Thank you so much for sharing these. I 💯 agree with you! A while back, I read the biography of Mandela, “Long walk to freedom,” and was inspired by his character and courage. Even though I’ve never met Mandela, I never say it’s the book that inspired me. I say the sacrifice and struggles of Mandela inspired me. However, If I never read the book myself, but my friend read it, and told me about Mandela. I still wouldn’t say it was the book, or my friend, that inspired me. I’d still say I’m inspired by the life and struggles of Mandela. When I read an autobiography, it’s not the book that inspires, it’s the person that inspires. Similarly, the Gospels are the biography of Jesus Christ. The Old Testament is the setting of the story before Jesus stepped on the scene. The Christian faith is based on the inspirational story and sacrifice of Jesus. Unfortunately, I feel even a lot of Christians get this simple fact wrong, placing undue emphasis on our scriptures to prove our case. But when we critically read the gospels, they make no direct claims to divine inspiration. Even Moses didn’t get too attached to the tablets, on which God, with his own hands, wrote the 10 commandments. Moses smashed it down, not wanting the tablets to be worshiped. He knew it wasn’t about the tablets, it was about God’s commandments already written in their hearts. 😪 Judaism is based on the Torah. Islam is based on the Quran. Christianity ISN’T based on Gospels. Christianity is based on Jesus Christ.🙏🏾 Yes I believe the Bible is divinely inspired, but I didn’t know that until I was saved and inspired by Jesus first. It’s not the Book that inspired us, it’s the person.

I love your pick-up on the context of marriage covenants. In Hebrew circles I've been told they don't see the "10 Commandments" as that at all. That's a Western title for them. They were seen as "the 10 words" as part of a "Ketubah" or marriage covenant. Sheds light on a lot of the language surrounding the covenant including, "treasured possession" and "consider carefully all these words". Interesting too that the final stage of a marriage in Hebrew culture is consummation under a "chuppah" which is the same as the cloud of languages in fire seen in Exodus and again in Acts...

Actually, the Old Testament that Jesus and the Disciples would have used, and most all the 1st Century Christians, was the Septuagint, which is the Greek translation of the Old Testament. This is why whenever O.T. passages are quoted in the N.T, the words differ from what we read in OUR Old Testaments. Because the writers of the New Testament were quoting from the Septuagint, whereas our bibles are translations from the original Hebrew.

Not just the word of God and his will. The inspiration and authority of the Bible. TOO! 2Ti 3: 16-17 All Scripture is inspired by God, and useful to teach, to convict, to correct, to instruct in righteousness so that the man of God may be perfect, fully prepared for every good work. "Scripture," as used in 2Ti 3:16, refers primarily to the OT writings (3:15). However, there are indications that when Paul wrote 2 Timothy some of the NT writings were already regarded as Scripture inspired and empowered (see 1Ti 5:18, which quotes Lk 10: 7; 2P 3: 15-16). Today, Scripture refers to the authoritative writings of the OT and NT, that is, "the Bible." They are God's original message to humanity and the only infallible testimony of God's saving activity for all people. (1) Paul affirms that all Scripture is "inspired by God" (Gr. Theopneustos, from two Greek words: theos, which means "God", and pneō, "to breathe"). Scripture is the very life and Word of God From the very words of the original manuscripts, the Bible is absolutely truthful, trustworthy, and infallible. That is true not only when it deals with salvation, ethical values, and morality, but also in all the subjects it deals with, including history and the cosmos (cf. 2P 1: 20-21; note also the psalmist's attitude toward Scripture in Ps 119). (2) The OT writers were aware that what they told the people and what they wrote was the word of God to them (see Deut 18:18; 2S 23: 2:, . Time and time again the prophets began their warnings by indicating that they were "the word of the Lord." (3) Jesus Christ also taught that Scripture is the inspired Word of God even in the smallest details (Mt 5:18). He affirmed that everything he said he received from the Father and is true (Jn 5: 19,30-31; 7:16; 8:26). In addition to that he referred to the revelation that would come (ie, the truth revealed in the NT) from the Holy Spirit through the apostles (Jn 16:13; cf. 14: 16-17; 15: 26-27) . (4) Therefore, to deny the total inspiration of the Holy Scriptures is to put aside the fundamental testimony of Jesus Christ (Mt 5:18; 15: 3-6; Lk 16: 7; 24: 25-27, 44- 45; Jn 10:35), the Holy Spirit (Jn 15:26; 16:13; 1Co 2: 12-13; 1Ti 4: 1) and the apostles (2Ti 3:16; 2P 1: 20-21), Furthermore, limiting or ruling out its infallibility is undermining divine authority. (5) In his work of inspiration by his Spirit, God, without changing the personality of the writers, directed them to write without error (2Ti 3:16; 2P 1: 20-21. See 1Co 2: 12-13 , notes). (6) The inspired Word of God is the expression of the wisdom and character of God, and therefore can give wisdom and spiritual life through faith in Christ (Mt 4: 4 Jn 6:63; 2Ti 3:15; 1P 2: 2). (7) The Bible is God's true and infallible testimony of his saving activity for humanity in Jesus Christ. That is why the Scripture is incomparable, concluded forever and of special obligation. There are no human words or statements from religious institutions to match his authority. (8) All commentaries, doctrines, interpretations, explanations, and traditions must be judged and legitimized by the words and message of the Scriptures (see Deut 13: 3, footnote. (9) The Word of God must be received, believed and obeyed as the ultimate authority in all things related to life and godliness (Mt 5: 17-19; Jn 14:21; 15:10; 2Ti 3:15 -16; 2P 1: 3; see Ex 20: 3, note). It should be used in the church as the ultimate authority in all matters to teach, convict, correct, and instruct in righteousness (2Ti 3: 16-17). No one can submit to the lordship of Christ without submitting to God and his Word as the highest authority (Jn 8: 31-32,37). (10) You can understand the Bible only when you are in good relationship with the Holy Spirit. He is the one who opens the understanding to understand its meaning and gives the interior testimony of his authority (see 1Co 2:12, note). (11) The inspired Word of God must be used to overcome the power of sin, Satan and the world in life (Mt 4: 4, Eph 6: 12,17; James 1:21) (12) All members of the church who regard the Scriptures as God's only truth for a lost and dying world should love, treasure, and protect them. Its doctrines must be protected by staying true to its teachings, and proclaiming its saving message, entrusting it to trustworthy people, defending it from all those who disfigure or destroy its eternal truths (see Phil 1:16; 2Ti 1: 13-14, notes; 2: 2; Jud 3). No one has the authority to add anything to Scripture or to take anything away (see Deut 4: 2, fn; Rev 22:19, fn). (13) Lastly, it should be noted that infallible inspiration applies only to the original writing of the biblical books. So when something appears to be wrong in the Scriptures, instead of assuming that the writer made a mistake, it is worth remembering that there are three possibilities in this regard: (a) the existing copies of the original manuscript may not be at all precise; (b) the current translation of the Hebrew or Greek biblical texts may be faulty; or (c) the understanding and interpretation of the biblical text could be deficient or incorrect.

John 1:1-4 disagrees with you. The (W)ord of God is a person, not a book. 2 Tim. 3:16 says Scripture is "useful". As in, not essential. Not indispensable. Not infallible. Just "useful". Think about it.

Jn.4:22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. I don't believe in the Bible but that is what it says.

I may have missed it, but I didn't here him explain how, when, where, or who decided which books of the N.T. were actually canonical and which were not. Just like we know that the Bible "didn't drop out of heaven", it's also true that the compilation of the New Testament ALSO "didn't drop out of heaven". It was determined by THE CHURCH, through councils of Bishops that studied these books. The Bible is a book FROM / BY the Church and FOR the Church. In order for it to have the Authority it has, The CHURCH first needed to decide what books were actual Scripture.

We had a skate church in our small town and it became a little hub of positivity- due to financials the church had to close its doors. This church did not judge the young rebellious skateboarders. For example; A group of 14 year olds were caught smoking pot behind a car then invited inside. They did not judge- they just let the group of stoned kids vibe with Jesus. This group became regulars at the church because they felt included in the culture- not judged. Skate church ruled.

Ok so since he didn't answer the question in the title I'll give you the answer. How convenient of this guy to leave out the councils of Rome, Hippo and Carthage. There was no bible canon before 397 AD. Why do you think we don't have the gospels of Peter, Judas, Thomas or Mary Magdalene or the apocalypse of Peter or many other letters? Because the catholic church guided by the Holy Spirit didn't add those to the canon. This man should have stuck to something else and left theology, interpretation and history to the one true church and only bride of Christ. The One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. Why is your protestant bible missing Wisdom? It's as if satan wanted to laugh at protestants and had Martin Luther take it out.

That’s basically calling God out on not having a plan for a while... I don’t even need to know the ins and outs, clearly God’s plan worked swimmingly as the whole world knows about/ has access to know about Jesus.. Peter was once told by Jesus in His own way that he was going to die and how. Peter asked, in essence, ‘well what about John,’ Jesus replied, what is it to you if he remains til I return, “YOU FOLLOW ME.” You can speculate all these semantics and what about the people in remote places that never heard.. What is it to you, YOU FOLLOW JESUS. God is faithful and just. Everyone will have an opportunity to either accept or deny the Christ. I believe that by faith. But , it’s not my job to hold God accountable for that. I MUST FOLLOW JESUS

@@tomfrombrunswick7571 The Bible contains everything we need for salvation. It says how you can have eternal life, how you can have the Holy Spirit, and what the Church is. The Church is people who have the Holy Spirit living in them (1 Peter 2:5, 2 Corinthians 6:16). That's why it's called the body of Christ. If we truly want to follow Jesus Christ and to have His Spirit, we'll look at His words in the Gospels and in the letters of the apostles that He chose. That's where we can find His teachings intact. Your doing good work man GOD BLESS! My question is how much has the Bible been picked apart and things changed within it. I was listening to this show the other day talking about the break down of the Bible from a Historical viewpoint of how Scriptures begin when it’s something that considered authentic all Scriptures begin with a certain word or letter but not genesis it begins with In the beginning and historically speaking that’s not normal for Ancient Hebrew Scriptures they always begin with something certain. It kinda makes me think that the Catholic Church or another sect changed parts of it.

Yes, I wasn't saved by the church or any religion. It happened by calling on the name of Jesus for help and it was truly miraculous! If anything most churches today are just some sick ego trip that destroys the spirit of love. This getting to heaven stuff or burning forever in the after life must be understood correctly. Truly, teachers of the blood and total forgiveness should be talked about more and more often. People still think they're going to hell and are trying to earn their way out of hell and into heaven. Most Churches are truly missing the point and adding requirements that takes away what the blood means. I have enjoyed your work Tim and your views, the teaching are word's to ponder. But I would like to leave you with something to think about. I'm reminded of the seeker St Francis and his findings after a life of study: " What you are looking for is what is looking " Yes, man being made in God's image is truly an incredible 📖 study. I hope God has you teach on the topic some day. Thanks again Tim and may God keep blessing you and yours. It's truly all a miracle in this life and I'm now looking forward to crossing over to the spirit world and shedding this old worn-out body that served me very well in this amazing thing, we call life on planet earth as we are all fly thru space, spinning around our sun.... Yes, it's all truly an amazing 🌎 world that God has created. Be well :)

Interesting that you claim Moses was given 42 commandments that became 613. There are 42 laws in the Egyptian religion of Ma'at. Moses was given 10 commandments that eventually became over 613 laws, statutes, judgments, ordinances and commandments because the first ten were broken consistently. There are so many other interesting statements but I will sum my response into as few words as possible. Replacement theology and teaching lawlessness is acceptable because of grace. But it's a feel good message that will tickle many ears but bring no conviction or repentance. So it serves the religion but contradicts the very Bible you claim to be proving. Sad that we think HIS laws don't need to be followed but pride ourselves on keeping the laws of the land and being lawful citizens.

Then after their disobedience to God, they were send out of Eden garden. Then after that they had childres Cain and Abel. Then after Cain killing Abel he was punished and sent out as a wanderer. Then he went west side of Eden. If Adam and Eve had childres then where did the other people came from like the one which Cain married. If they were already born to Adam and Eve then why they aren't mentioned in the bible. Are they sinned people or they are also God's creation. Can you explain it.

Just throwing it out there for anyone who seeks a deeper connection with God than a church visit because the mystery of God is way beyond what church teaches… the church in fact pushes people away from God and limits the pure connection. If you don’t believe this or if this is in some way triggering, just look around to see the connection most Christians have with God, or rather the lack of connection. … The question is … why does God call himself “I am”… try to go beyond the basic teaching that most churches would give you, indeed most pastors will give you some jibber jabber answer… because they have no idea and have not actually asked God why (because they simply regurgitate most answers as they try to fit into some religious mold). But You can… go straight to God and say “Why do you call yourself “I am”… I bet when you hear the answer, your life will never be the same … and for those who have been baptized, you will realize that the true “Born again” experience is not what most Christians think it is. For when we are born again we are completely United with God and have tasted the living water, and are at rest (which hardly describes most people who put all of their faith in a church (the building): the church is a people, not a building, and a word is Jesus Christ, not a Bible…. Which in fact has been turned into an idol. If you have not experienced the true connection with God, able to hear God, know that God is within you…. Then maybe something doesn’t add up… God is here to embrace you and love you for everything that you are, unfortunately you just won’t find it in most churches today, but you can find it so easily in your own closet while communicating with God.

I'm trying to wrap my head around what Dr Tim said that I'm supposed to accept the authority of the Bible based on the history that's primarily espoused by the Bible or the teachings and life of Jesus described by the Bible. Isn't that circular? The confusing thing to me is that what we believe about Jesus is found in the Bible so you can't assume that history is foundational since you are trying to establish the Bible as authoritative.

I take issue with the statement that Jesus was making a 'new covenant' with a new people - because Isreal's failed to keep it to be a light to the nations - as if it was being passed on to a new people. Jesus came to the house of Judah and the northern house of Isreal that was divorced; the lost sheep of Isreal. (I did not come for the world, but for the lost sheep of Isreal) not to establish a new covenant with a new people. He was making a renewed covenant, yes. He did it in keeping with the Mosaic law - covenants are established with blood, then shared in agreement with a meal. It just sounded like the echos of replacement theology (where Isreal is replaced by the gentiles as the people of God) which I disagree with, but that's another topic. Just want to be sure people understand Isreal was not replaced with the gentiles. We are grafted in to Isreal. I don't want to think people would believe Isreal was replaced.

@Shaun Gilmore if you read through from Genesis it has to do with honoring righteousness and then promising to give blessing and then the over-arching plan of salvation. It had nothing to do with favoring a particular people over another, but this people group through which the light of the world would come forth. Israel (because of Abraham *also from the seed of other righteous men- who was a righteous man because he believed and obeyed God) was supposed to be a light to the nations, a people group who would walk righteously showing the character of the One who led them. It wasn't because they were better and others redundant. It's not about that at all. I wish I could sit with you and show you through the entirety of scripture, but it's a long process. Don't look for a single answer to satisfy you, it won't happen. Israel (even the land itself) housed the fertile crescent in which contained Eden. So it's all connected to the garden, those walking righteously (believing and obeying), the redeeming of anyone who would choose Him (Exodus -a mixed multitude that included Egyptians and anyone else wanting to live under Yawheh's protection - mentions several times this isn't simply a blood race of people). He blessed this people because of the root of Jesse, the promise of redemption, the plan of the ultimate savior, but also illustrating sovereignty of a creator who's ways are certainly not like our ways. I urge you to read through every word of your bible, comb through it, pray for understanding, pray for wisdom. If these things are truly in your heart, read your bible under prayer, turn everything else off, and trust that He will reveal to you the thing you seek. Never try to understand Yahweh through your human understanding. He illustrates who He is and what He wants though the entirety of it. It takes time. One pastor's answer or another's is not what you seek; you seek Yawheh's answer. It's all in there. And DO NOT BE DISMAYED when He commands the destruction of an entire people group; it has to do with what He knows that we do not. An easy answer to satisfy your question is not going to happen. But seek Yawheh's Kingdom and His righteousness. Never your own. This is just the beginning. He wants to be known. He wants you to choose Him. He wants you to find that narrow road and walk it and not look to the right or left. He wants you to overcome - not as the world portrays it, but as He prescribes it. Bless you today. I pray you come to know and trust what He says about Himself. And that you are among those who choose.

Yay! Would that be the same church that burned people for: translating it into other languages? encouraging laypersons to read it? Printing bibles and distributing them? 😂

Its not a trance...When you live & love for God..The Holy spirit LIVES IN YOU & GUIDES YOU & TELLS YOU TO DO THINGS YOU NEVER WOULD WITHOUT HIM UNLESS YOU ARE A OPEN VESSEL💯 JUST LIKE THOSE PEOPLE WOULDVE NEVER WROTE THE BIBLE WITHOUT💯 & The Holy Spirit has Written MORE BOOKS & SONGS & You have the Spirit of DISCERNMENT SO YOU KNOW WHO HAS CREATED WHAT💯😇 The Living Word STILL LIVES & NEVER ENDS💯 Now of course some of the bible wasnt lead by the Holy spirit just like we dont always live in the Spirit & are distracted & snares by the flesh...

Greetings Pastor, I see that your link is no longer available. I think the calling you have been obedient too is inspiring amazing and pretty much indescribable in how great he is and how proud I a stranger am of you for this "vital" work you are apart of. It has affected my life in a very positive way. I have been watching your videos for just close to a year and ...To God be every Glory, I am so thankful. I did put a link on another video but in my haste (forgive me) I did not reach out properly to explain and or do not know if you want us to write elsewhere but I never received a reply. I am a elder woman young man of God and a newer Christian (sort of and that's another story) and I after many years of not putting my passion for our Lord Jesus that I have had since I can remember 2 years of age; into his word. This was due to reasons that involve others but in the end it was my unconsciousness or other aspects of myself that allowed myself to be led me astray. The link I sent you however, was the first time since I have given my life (or rededicated) that really stirred up feelings within me that I do not want to spend my energy rebuking etc. The word is an anchor and If I cannot anchor myself in it I will still "know" in Christ Jesus but .... I must also believe in the source of his written word. Everything in this video was amazing but I would like to find out from you (if you do not mind) the following; 1. Could you please look at the link that came to you from me and tell me what you think? Help me so I may bind the spread of incorrect information from a worldy source as big as Newsweek, for the non believers considering. ? 2. I Understand what you mean when you spoke about , yeah, there is some controversies and believe it anyway. But then you said, are those significant differences? Yes. And this is where I need to bring up the question I am almost certain you have received before. Millions of people just went through the media and organised religion corruption misinterpreting "vital" information for such a long time. Translation that makes "all" the difference in the world (I will spare you the Kindergarten examples I am sure you already know) . These significant differences are to me not something to gloss over or some academic error to not be corrected. I pray that this is corrected so that those whom are not scholars but in every walk of life can learn his direct words and inner meanings intellectually , to assist our essential faith and of course in giving thanks ahead of time for his direct voice, touch and supernatural means for letting us know most of all. 3. If you wanted to obtain the closest full english bible with the least amount of "missing" info; which one would it be? If this was not affordable to most , why? that would be something our Lord would not want. Could you please suggest a study bible with as much of the real scripture within it as possible? Thank you God bless you in Jesus's name Amen

This man is a blessing in my life, unveiling heresies as a bi product of just simply explaining WHAT the bible IS and ISNT. Fundamentalists and KJV only people eat your heart out (and I love the KJV as my default btw so this was a big shock to me)

you say you don't particularly like the word 'traditional', i speaking of the bible? why is that? Is it similar to how i don't like the words 'religious or religion'? what word might you replace the word 'traditional' with? I'm hearing that word a lot lately and it's not setting right with my spirit - and i can't determine why. thanks anyone

I am a 70 year old lady who has taken the Bible by faith for 40 years this June 22. ✝️His arm is Not too short to save. This is like a reward to me for saying I have to believe by faith that the Bible really is our authority no matter how intellectual any of us are, no matter how hard to believe humans could write down what God wants to say and have it still be His message thousands of years after it happened. Hallelujah Glory 😊✝️

If God gave the prophets words to speak to the people, isn't it plausable that the inspired writers of the bible have had their words - directly downloaded from God?

Prayer may comfort you, but it does not solve problems. Depending on your situation, prayer is not going to fix it. If you have serious problems such as physical, mental, or financial -- get REAL help. Best from Indiana.

I appreciate this and hope that it gives people confidence in the scriptures. At the same time, it would also be useful to note that there are sectarian translations, like the Book of Mormon and Jehovah Witnesses Proclamation…just a quick crash course of the different between sound and heretical text. Love the closing statements. The questions we struggle with aren’t new to the human experience and there are reliable resources. I pray for each of us to have a hunger and to be committed to search for truth so we can find freedom.
