i've caught oio bottom fishing on deep sandy areas for some reasons... usually i see anglers catch them on flats, but i've always caught them bottom fishing in the most random of places. great video, super informational, and most of all: NICE OIO 🤙🏽

I caught most of my biggest ones on the flats but caught plenty in channels also

Great video! All my oio have been caught in shallow reefs on Oahu in 4' of water or less whipping grubs on jigheads. I have videos of it on my channel. Never have caught any deeper than that.

I usually catch big round jaw oio on the flats… but a lot of smaller angle jaw in the channels … I’ll also go check out your show

Joe, howzit braddah. Nice to see everyone is enjoying themselves. Glad to see that both your kids had a hanapa. Even if you didn't catch anything, it's ok. The main thing was spending time with ohana and friends and having fun. Anyway, thank you sharing and taking me along on your fishing trip adventure. Hoping to go home ( Kaneohe ) for a visit sometime soon. Missing my local food , fishing and home alot, lol. Ahui Hou Malama Pono Aloha from Texas.

Catch both flats, and the deep, but the flats I either flyfish or whip. Caught up to ten pounds on the flats, but in the deep the 10+ bruisers cruise.

What kind poles were this with the stainless but?

I know everyone was asking but idk… I think he said it was some kind of salmon rod that he added the butt… so I guess custom…
@nickmartino6566 Жыл бұрын
here in vancouver we use salmon rods with graphite butt section, great because the alternative, cork, gets ruined by the rod holder pressure while trolling!

Regarding the Takeo, what’s your thoughts on skinning versus not skinning take?
@onfirefishinghawaii Жыл бұрын
Hi Robert, so for me, if its fresh, dont skin it. however if it's old or frozen, can skin it and the skin wont get all puffy. for added smell can add a small piece of squid
