💁🏻♀️ Disclaimer: I’m not a fluent Irish speaker (yet 😉). I’m just a girl from Alabama with a Passion for Gaeilge 💖) who likes to share what she’s learned along the way. 👋🏼 😊 I try my very best to be accurate with the info I share with y’all, but I may occasionally make an error. ☘️
------
🟡 Note: I present information with Ulster to Ulster-leaning pronunciations, but I present grammar concepts using the Official Standard (which is not any more “correct” than local/traditional grammar rules that are specific to different dialects)
------
🛑 👉 Note: In the video, I pronounced “bhfarraige” as VAHR.uh.geh, for some reason…which is a 💯% legitimate / correct pronunciation, but, in Ulster specifically, it would be pronounced WAHR.uh.geh…because the “bh”-sound is “broad.”
------
↘️ Extra! … In Ulster grammar, the definite noun after
in aice leis and…
ar an
would be lenited, rather than eclipsed….
Examples👇
Official Standard:
in aice leis an bhfarraige
ar an bhféarthalamh
Ulster:
in aice leis an fharraige
ar an fhéarthalamh
