Blind torping on 2 brothers at the start of the match is peak hilarious. Did that a couple times so far including on a dd once. It would be nice if they made an indicator saying planes were coming since they don’t give you the spotted by plane warning like a cv does so often times people’s AA is going off but they are otherwise unaware they are being attacked

I mean, on paper, they’re overpowered. Basically, take an American battleship, no changes, and give it the ability to drop torps from close range. In theory, it’s similar to any of the battlecruisers, which can also use torps, but for most of those ships you have to be close and broadside to do so. The Nebraska gets Iowa guns, Iowa accuracy, Iowa armor, and air dropped torps. 106 miles to Chicago, we’ve got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark and we’re wearing sunglasses. I haven’t played any of these yet. Got Connecticut, but with so many people playing them, I thought I would abstain for a while, maybe learn to pay against them instead. From my experience, while they’re overpowered on paper, they aren’t making a big difference to my games. As a cruiser player, I’m not usually the target of the torps-they’re better used on bigger slower targets. But if I had to choose between the Iowa and the Nebraska . . . Why would I pick Iowa?

I feel like with this kind of stuff in the game it shouldn't be a stretch to let BBs operate their secondaries manually. I remember how much flak I caught for suggesting that years ago, people saying how broken it would be, and now we have stuff like this 😅

I've a question for Mr. Jerk... Could you break down, just a bit, on how to apply the auto-aim feature with the planes?

Target the ship you want, then zoom in, use the left stick to choose the side you want to drop from and so long as you don’t have too much lead, it’ll automatically line it up, no need to use the right stick (unless you feel like they’ll do a maneuver)

I like al Colorado on all my American bbs and hybrids. My Nebraska shatters alot even on cruisers close up. For some reason Nebraska gets so many shatters I shatterd my ap shells on broadside iowas and mainz ce. Did they nerf ap pen and angles on Nebraska?

AFAIK they have the same as on PC, which is to say almost identical to North Carolina, but noticably less than Iowa.

I think we are seeing a case of confirmation bias... these ships arent super overpowered on their own... but they suggest a play style that is very aggressive due to the air strikes limited range AND not too close cause that prevents the use of planes entirely. additionally most people dont like the US BBs because of how easy they are to citadel. But these have such a large broadside many people wont give a broadside to begin with. Essentially these ships are training the bad BB habits out of the bad BB players. 80-90% of the damage comes from the guns. The added torp damage is something to consider but any of the tier for US BBs will perform similarly. These ships just give people the confidence to play US BBs in a way that makes them effective. I say all this because i was reminded of the original battlefield games (i think it was them anyway) but they issues with people complaining about the thompson being op compared to the mp40. The issue was they both had the same damage and firerate... the thompsons sound (they surmised) was giving confidence to the US players to play more agressively and close distances to where the smgs were more effective. I believe we are seeing something similar here

It’s amusing, because my W/R in Louisiana is awful, but my average XP and damage is near the highest of all my ships at the tier.. I’m not even sure what that means 🫠

Use the left stick to pick the side you want to drop from, then move the right stick to line up where, it will auto tern to create an intercept point.

It all depends on your controller config but one stick moves the V and the other changes the angle. I just practiced in AI for ever lol it takes time but i still struggle with it.

These ships are so broken. But in some ways they've improved the Meta a bit because there are fewer BBs parked at the very back of the map now. A slim silver lining, granted, but it's something. I've actually been enjoying the game this week.

Actually, now that people are figuring out the auto aim and how easy it is the game is now miserable. I mean, how really are you meant to deal with being targeted by the planes of up to three ships?

They need something done to them. Why are they so accurate along with the access to torp drops? Where is the citadel? What is the sacrifice made for utility? I'm not seeing it. They need something done. Less accurate guns and something like a looooong aim time to prepare the torp drop.

So Jerk, what do you think the reason for adding these hybrids to the game(other than monetary if there is one). To me, it feels like an artificial game pace increase....for faster games. I personally do not care for the hybrids. Them being able to shoot their guns at the same time planes are droping torps is too good. Captains should have to pilot the planes for the entire duration(either all planes shot down or plane return to the ship. Idk but they need to be turned down. Also i feel like dfaa should be default on everyship now. AA needs to be buffed on all ships....orrrrrr make it so the planes torps cant cause floods.

I love how wowls players are so lazy, "wow such a bad game design, making me watch the mini map to be able to dodge? Ugh". Meanwhile the average moba player *looking at the mini map once every 5-10 seconds*. Not only that, dude, look, if your bb has good torpedo Belt, don't give broadside to dodge all torpedoes because you are gonna eat a Citadel, oh you see a hybrid bb? Put your ship on half or 3/4, oh planes coming for ya? Just go full speed ahead, and you are going to dodge, if the guy gets a decent prediction, you might eat 1-2 torps, but that's like what? 6-9k damage? Lmao

@metajerk I've thought for a while it would be fun to have a Hardcore mode with no auto-aim, no cone, maybe not even ship names or health bars just visual ID for both. Could get rid of the "detected" icon. Just lots of little things to get players more involved in identifying and playing on their own rather than have the game do that work for them

All the talk going around about these being OP or being annoying still makes little to no sense to me. I've yet to see a single drop on someone where they were paying complete attention and tried to avoid it. Almost all of the examples I've seen were against other BBs who were either bow in gamers or simply weren't that good at all. Can something really be THAT bad if it's only "cracked" against BB players that either don't pay attention to the map or simply don't know how to play? Lol I really don't get it. I do agree that there needs to be some other identifier other than the map that planes are on the way, but cmon Jerk try to be objective about this one. These things are really only OP or unfair against bot BB players and I feel like that should be okay. People gotta learn to get better or get clapped. That's how MP games should be.

I don't have a problem with people getting clapped, nor do I have an issue with discouraging bow tanking.. What I take issue with is the ease.. and while yes, the majority of damage you will see is against clueless BBs.. I just have to wonder if that's really what we want.. a class where you can just call in 10-30k damage.. Admittedly, its less of an issue at this lower tier.. The question really is more "is this where we want the game to go?" It seems like it's just gearing more towards a mobile chaotic fiesta.. and that is a bummer to me.

@metajerk Sure, that is a valid concern, but it's not really like it's as easy as all can be. For one, you're a great player. One in maybe ~1000 players will be able to use these things to any great effect like this video would have people assume. Two, the auto aim literally only ever works to this effect if people aren't changing their course at all. So Timmy no thumbs will still have trouble hitting all, but maybe one torpedo every minute and a half. Especially if they're like many of those I see trying to spam auto aim where it gets off track pretty easily and they miss completely. Finally, while yes these ships have more firepower than most and high HP, they also get chunked pretty hard when focused. So there's always the weakness of "just shoot at the problem, and it disappears.". I just don't think these are anywhere close to being the ease of use monsters akin to what we already have in game. The likes of Worcester, Colombo, Shima, and a lot of the fire spamming menaces at T7 all are easier to use than these things imo. So I dunno if I buy the whole ease of use thing...

@captainphilips5469 here's the thing... never once did I say I enjoyed playing them. I enjoy winning. If anything. But they don't give me more pleasure playing them over any of the other ships I play. And I've been on the receiving end numerous times as much as anyone else in the past few weeks and I can safely say not once have I died to one and went "Yep, that's BS." It just doesn't happen. And no one with a level head on their shoulders would either. Because there's nothing anymore inherently broken about an airstrike system you have time to dodge from than what we've already experienced in the game. People just like to cry and complain about everything. Now it's more difficult to decipher the actual bad thing from just an echo in the distance from someone who just doesn't like playing against something different. It's just now the flavor of the week is "anything to do with planes" which to a degree I do agree, tunings need to be done to help surface ships deal with the sheer amount of planes we are experiencing in any given match. But to say these airstrikes coming in are just as broken if not more so than any of the other busted ships we have had in the game is just plain false.
