Clallam County, Washington actually shifted its percentage-points margins more Democratic while Election 2024 was a Republican pickup for U.S. President. Clallum County went from D+3.57, in 2020, to D+7.83, in 2024. Every state-including Washington-had a general shift toward Republican/Donald Trump. One county which has been incredibly reliable in carrying for U.S. presidential election winners is Blaine County, Montana. With exception in 1988, Blaine County has carried for all presidential winners since 1916.

There's a simpler explanation as to why the bellweathers went away. It is extremely statistically improbable to have 18 of 19 bellweathers fail in one election.
