I know the feeling. After 13 years I'm still searching for a specialty that I love. My relationship with the Lord helps me a lot. I go to the gym 4 times a week and have a social life. I tell myself that I don't subscribe to toxicity. Hang in there! You're an amazing person & nurse ❤

We have so much in common I will be 41 in July and have been a FNP for 5 years as well. I’m also burnt out on nursing. I recently got into property investing and have several airbnbs now. I’m trying to find ways I can make passive income and control my own time. Good luck to you on your journey and do whatever makes you happy. We are more than just nurses! ❤

The integrity is slowly disappearing in this profession in the name of money . 23 years in and a lot of us find ourselves in situations that has nothing to do with patient care but “ customer service”. It’s so heartbreaking to be unsatisfied with the profession for most of us as we got into it to care for people. You are not alone and we understand your plight. We stand behind you and with you! ❤

Hello Beautiful Lady, It’s so good to see you doing well. It’s ok not to be “100% in love” with nursing. You can still give 100% care to patients and be at 50-75% in love. For me, I was in the honeymoon stage for 10 years then I became more exposed to the real side of healthcare. Then that drove me to give even more to my patients and families for another 10 years. Now I’m planning my exit from the ICU bedside. I can finally say it out loud that nursing is a career but now its just a job to me and its ok to feel that way. It’s ok to say that I made a great living from nursing but there is more to life then just nursing. I believe we are all struggling to find our next purpose but I know its out there. Thank you and Kendra for giving us this space to be open.

I wonder is it too soon for me to be feeling burnt out???? Being a nurse has been a joy but very exhausting! I have been a nurse for only 19 months! It could be my age and mind set at 40 and having a family that has me feeling this way. I would rather be at home taking care of my family! Your videos are so needed no matter the content! All nurses are awesome and I truly thank you guy’s!!! There was this nurse that taken good care of me in the PACU before I moved on to the ICU and I would always thank her for the care I received while I was down. Idk if she loved her job or not but if she didn’t she surely did a good job hiding it. So all you nurses out their stay strong because you guy’s are the backbones to the medical field! This is coming from a Certified Sterile Processing Technician who is soon to be a Cardiovascular Technologist then off to a PA!

It's great when nurses reach a milestone where they embrace balance and boundaries within the profession. Nurses are people who love home decorations, in door gardening, traveling, making favorite dishes and displaying them, etc. At times, being in love with a career deters one from enjoying balance and finding happiness in other areas of life. You'll be surprised to know all the nurses who are content creators with channels soley focused on clothing, music, religion, culinary skills and more. They deliberately do not mention anything about nursing. You won't even see a stethoscope anywhere in the background when they're on camera. Life offers blessings in so many areas. Staying focused and doing your job honestly while on the clock is all that matters. You don't have to be "in love" with the profession.

We can't dismiss the upper Midwest winter weather. It definitely takes its toll. Recently post-menopausal here. A new frontier! 😂Unfortunately, we aren't set up to know the realities of the nursing profession in nursing school. They are still selling the Flo Nightingale Kool-Aid. Welcome back and happy belated birthday. I’m glad you took some time off YOU though🫶🏾 And girl, a lot of us can agree with your statement about not being “in love” with where we are right now. Rather it’s with nursing or any other profession. Like you said, I use to looooooooooove nursing because I loved working at the bedside as an ER nurse. However, eventually (after yeeearsss of doing that) my love for that faded. Now, as an NP, I’m on the hunt for that same love, a new love, and haven’t found it yet🤷🏾‍♀️ I’m pray full that it will come, but if not, maybe I’ll win the lottery 😂 Welcome back girl ❤❤❤

Everyone needs to make a living to survive, part of what made me choose nursing was that job security that it offers. Yes, I am grateful that I make a difference as well, but you can get jaded from what you see in this field. It is a business after all. A lot of nurses that may not feel like it's a calling for them may do a great job still because they take pride on their work. You are allowed to think and feel what you want. We're all grown and you can't please anybody anyway. I hope you find your niche and you feel fulfilled some day.

I totally understand what you are experiencing. I have asked myself the same question. Why don’t I feel fulfilled? When you are training to be a nurse practitioner you have all these dreams of where you will be and the impact you would have on your patients and on healthcare, but alas! You realize that its not so…it can be disheartening….ask yourself , If I was not doing nursing or if I were not an NP would I miss it if I did something else? Thats my compass everyday.

Thank you for you honestly. I had a moment when I was completing my credentialing profile while listing my previous jobs. I felt embarrassed for the number of RN positions I've held over my 10 years. I lost an opportunity for my dream job as a new grad RN over a bad reference. I believe that is the reason why I struggled to find where I fit. I am now working as an NP in primary care. Hi Miss Laurie I woke up this morning and realised I hadn't seen a video of yours for ages, I searched and now see that you took some time out. It is so good to see you, and I'm glad you and your family are doing OK. Its important that you take care of you too. Its funny cause I've been in the the same place and nearly left nursing altogether! But on Monday 17th I am going to look round a new facility with a view to working there full time instead of being an agency nurse (travel nurse) I too got to the point were I was questioning if it was what I wanted to do??? Then after figuring out what goals I had, ie I want to move house. I realised I can make that happen quicker nursing. So with that in mind. I will roll up my sleeves and go again. Nursing doesn't give me joy like it used to, but that's OK I can still do my best, whilst be aware of the realities of nursing.... Happy Belated birthday it was my birthday too on the 23rd March I'm 57 now so a little older than you, I'm fortunate that I'm mortgage free, but hoping to move to a new home with a lovely garden 🏡🌺🏵🌻 Having a goal has helped me refocus, hope find your way too. 🇬🇧💗🇯🇲🥰
