Absolutely love the mentality here. I've watched countless worship pedalboard videos where the host says something like "this brand new Strymon bigsky helps me connect better with god" and I'm thinking, no it doesn't you just wanted to buy some new cool gear, possibly with someone else's money. Having said that, love your board too

Rig sounds amazing man! Especially the diversity of tones you get from your drives

Thanks! Sometimes I think they sound too similar sometimes but they all have their place!

What made you move to the Wampler Ego 76 comp and how does it compare to some of the other comps you’ve had? I have the OG Deep Six and seems like the most popular comps out there are any of the Cali 76 options which also seem to be the most pricey.
@jamesransom77115 ай бұрын
I've always been a fan of the 1176 circuit, and really appreciated how Brian approached the Ego 76. He wanted to include all the punch and presence from the whole 1176 chain in the pedal, so it really elevates things beyond what a "standard" comp pedal would. Lots of great options out there though!

Love that Colony House riff you played besides the other riffs based on the pedals used. Especially that ambient sketch in the end. Great to hear you’re back.

The wide setting on the Synesthesia is so good

Def true on all the new stuff. The biggest difference out of anything I’ve ever done is switch over from IR to a Matchless HC30. It’s a big difference from even a Matchless IR. It’s cool to see a lot of the big name worship bands going back to micing amps again
@jamesransom77115 ай бұрын
For sure! Different situations for different people. I’d love to mic up mine but it’s just a lot easier with the digital stuff!

Always loved your channel man! Glad you’re back! I agree with you, while “the chase” can be fun, it can also be tiring. Use what you have and make music! I’ve personally found much more enjoyment in learning riffs and songs that I enjoy with the gear that I have rather than chasing “the next big thing”. Again, while that can be fun at times, I think it’s important not to let it overwhelm you and prevent you from learning your gear and playing your guitar. *Speaking from experience*

Yeah you nailed it man!

Go for it! Again, big difference between experimenting/trying something out and just getting something because everyone else is. Crazy pedal that does a lot of wild stuff!

What is the wide setting exactly on the Synesthesia? Trying to dial in some new tones on mine! Great video!
@jamesransom77115 ай бұрын
Those were Kenyon Reed’s preset from Tone Factor, but I’ll check tomorrow which effects were used! Just can’t share the settings since it’s not my preset to share.
@jamesransom77115 ай бұрын
Ok so the wide setting is a dimension c, and the wider setting is two of them lol

I have always loved watching your stuff mate, Glad to see you are back! It is definitely interesting to see the excitement around new gear, especially when there are a bunch of big youtubers in the space who do jump on it immediately. Not to their fault either, its their job, but it does make it feel as though you just get this and leads to 99% of worship pedalboards and sounds being the same lol. Anyways, great tones mans, keen to see what else you got in store!
@jamesransom77115 ай бұрын
Thanks so much man! Means a ton. And definitely agree, I’m trying to embrace everything that guitar playing is and not just worry about verb and delays. Everyone should be able to have fun with this stuff!

I should have started with a squire, tubescreamer, and a blues jr.. instead I'm a child free middle aged man with a disposable income going through their second midlife crisis who has been playing for only a year, can play a few riffs but has over $2500k of gear, can't strum cleanly, horrible at keeping time, and don't know how to play a whole song... with that said I'm happy and enjoying my journey into guitar.
@jamesransom77115 ай бұрын
Love it, you do you man! There’s no right way to do all this 🤘🏽

Take this perspective: You will evolve with your gear. There is a steep learning curve but think of it as an investment to your sanity that you will use and tinker with in at least the next 10 years.
@designbyjohnperez5 ай бұрын
@rovenordiales oh yes, the distraction is a good investment for my sanity. It even has me listening to music differently now, dissecting and trying to figure out how the guitar part was played and why.

Awesome sounds! When you were running 1/8 and dot 1/8th, was that the halo and el cap in series? I thought the el cap can only do 1/4 and dot.
@jamesransom77115 ай бұрын
Nope that was just the el cap! I forget the mode exactly, but it was both toggles in the middle at 86 bpm. I rarely stack delays unless I just want to smear everything after the Microcosm. The El Cap is midi clock sync’d, but the Halo isn’t.
@jackdebruin56115 ай бұрын
What algorithms/settings are you using to get that wide effect on the synesthesia? It is awesome! I would love to see an individual breakdown video just on that pedal. Great Tones Man!
@jamesransom77115 ай бұрын
It’s a combination of a few things depending on which preset. Most center around the dimension C, vibrato, and chorus algorithms! Most of the presets too are from Kenyon and David over at Tone Factor. I’ll definitely do a breakdown video on that pedal!

@jamesransom77115 ай бұрын
Mosaic setting with all four lights on, mix noon-1 o’clock, space 3 o’clock, filter 11 o’clock, activity 3 o’clock, repeats 2-3 oclock, shape 11 oclock, time will be based on your tap tempo!

I'd be interested in how you manage to use the Synesthesia in a live setting without using MIDI. I have it and love it but can't imagine not using PC messages to get through a set with it.
@jamesransom77115 ай бұрын
Have definitely thought about it. I like the simplicity of my little analog switcher for the Bigsky, but am fully aware of how much more work I’m having to do not having that and the synesthesia set up for midi haha
