I think Valves focus will be on polishing the game until release and after. It will probably take some more months until we get an operation, but at the end of 2023 would be a great time to release one ( and more likely than in the summer in my opinion).

We are still looking for an Anubis Collection (Tuscan was leaked as well I believe) to be released. It has to happen before the Paris Major in May. Collections were usually introduced with Operations. So maaaayybe, we'll see one last CS:GO Operation in April already :D

The leak was Tuscan being bought by Valve. I agree it's possible we get an Operation before the major, but we can also get a Anubis (and possibly Tuscan collection) that get's announced a few days before the major to be later added to the regular drop pool, like they did in 2018.

I think they will focus on CS2. When the final release is here, they will push patches and updates for a few more months to fix things. So most likely it will be January/February 2024 at earliest

Don't they have the first CS2 major planned for January 2024? I don't think they'll release an operation in the winter and have it overlap with a major. IF there will be one, it has to be in the summer, most likely with the official release of CS2 (July-August?). So yeah, I think you're right. Having an operation with the game's release would be the best way to keep the newcomers "hooked" and interested in trying the game for more than a few days. But again, like you said, Valve works in mysterious ways...

I think operation riptide was also going on, wenn the Stockholm major took place. So in my opinion it isn't that unrealistic. Nevertheless I think a New operation ist more likely to get released within a few weeks after the CS2 release

If they want to hook new players they should focus more on community game modes, war games. I got hooked from operation hydra stab stab zap. I played a combined 600 hours of arms race, demolition and flying Scoutsman before I even knew competitive was a thing. Since then it's been neglected. Big sad if they don't do anything.

i am more interested in new mod tools and being able to make CTF maps, and hopefully you can go into custom games without having to download them from the workshop. You can spent a whole year making a mod, but no one would ever play them because you have to download them from the workshop. good luck getting enough people to download your mod, and then get them to play your mod at the same time. so many good ideas go to waste cause of steam workshop. hopefully valve addresses this major issue! I am not even that big into CTF, but i have always wanted CTF in CSGO, or any of the older CS games.
