I would be honored, and delighted to have Mr. Nat King Cole as my neighbor. I would invite Mr Nat King Cole, along with his wife, and family over for dinner. Heck knowing my dad, he'll invite Mr. Nat King Cole for Poker night. 🚗

There is racist everywhere, there are some rap singers who speak of racial words that I do not approve of. The young people of today needs to come to grips on civil rights, and how we have come a long way on changeing those hateful racial words, into respectful words. As far as the housing situation, it is a win or loose situation. Yes, it is true housing discrimination still proceeds. It solely depends on the people who run the housing commissions. As I travel into high society neighborhoods, there are some neighborhoods that are mixed, while others show only one type of race. Likewise, I have mentioned prior to my conversation, it all depends on who is operating the home owners association. I snarl at some young adults who say they are being mistreated at school because of the color of there skin. I respond by saying, "how many black students, and Latin Americans are in your class room"? There answers are quite shocking, some respond by saying "oh, there is 10 black students, and 7 Latin Americans, and the rest are white." " So..., you say you are being discriminated? Go back to school and study American History, and civil rights." Boy oh boy, we have come a long way in our civil rights, and we are still progressing every single day."

Hancock Park had racially restrictive covenants at the time. You could not sell to a black man. My father, Eugene McPherson, an Attorney with Gladys Root (first female attorney in Los Angeles) who just happened to live on Muirfield as well, sued to have the covenants voided because they were discriminatory. He won. And Nat King Cole went on to live a beautiful life in Hancock Park. Jews were not allowed to live there either. They settled in Beverly Hills which had no restrictions.

Hancock Park was the first place stars moved to, then they moved to Beverley Hills. However today this area looks over grown and ill kept for all the millions the houses cost. Mary Wilson of The Supremes lived in that big English tudor on the corner just across from Mr. Cole's house.
@Vwjl12076 жыл бұрын
Over grown and ill kept? Are you kidding? Still by far the most beautiful neighborhood in Los Angeles. Beverly Hills is filled with torn down homes replaced with horrible tacky, architecturally god awful mcmansions.

When Nat was attacked by racists onstage in the Deep South in 1956, Frank arranged for a plane to take him and the band back to N.Y. When he died in 1965, Frank asked to have his ring placed in his coffin. He was also a pallbearer for his friend, which speaks volumes as he hated funerals.
@patriciaymontagnelazarecky31195 жыл бұрын
Mr. Frank Sinatra he was an honorable man, he despised people who are racist, and he fired a lot of people who spoke of hatred words, he would not care if you were rich, poor, or if you belonged to an organization. If he did not liked the way you treated people he would let you know.
