Glad I watched this. I had not considered the nailing surface of the siding. I probably would have done the same thing...now I probably still will, but I won't have an excuse.
@Samcraftcom3 жыл бұрын
LOL Or you may have a quicker fix. :) Some suggestions here was to cut the thickness of the siding into the birdsmouth on the exterior to allow the siding to slide up into place still -- a good fix. More labor and saw/ladder time, but no extra material or hardware costs. Your build is looking good!!!

Just a suggestion, but I found it great to have everything in my shop on wheels, even the CNC table. It makes it easier to clean, rearranging and getting things out of the way if I am needing extra space for a project. The CNC table has levelers and locking feet to ensure it doesn’t move. I have never regretted that decision.

I recently got a 12x16 shed that is becoming my workshop. Now that the electrical is done the transfer of tools from the garage has begun as time and weather allows. I am in the same boat as you with thinking about selling my saw and going with a tracksaw and smaller job site saw. Makes me sad to do that, but the room required that I’ll gain will be huge in the end.

In my new 12x24 shop with cathedral ceiling I put the 3.0 door in the center of the long wall. My reason for that was to have at room on each side of the door for equipment. Putting it on the end would take a lot of the wall and leave you with two short walls. Also it give me a straight path to my house and not have to walk around the building. No two buildings are alike; You have to make them fit to your needs.

Benn watching progress, have not heard what type of heat you will use. I know last year your video covered the three you have used and your choice going forward. Have you looked into a Diesel Heater? I now use one in my 12 x 20 high barn shop. I have also used various heating methods for heating in prior shops. I decided on the Diesel heater All in One. Love the roofing and door projects. Thank you for sharing your awesome workshop build with us. Great Price also. From Henrico County Virginia
@Samcraftcom3 жыл бұрын
I figured I'll use propane heat again.. mostly because the workshop will be going off grid initially if not forever and electric heat will be a killer to the system. I've not heard of diesel heaters before... I'll have to look it though. Sounds interesting

I just found you, but judging from what I’ve seen you would benefit greatly from swapping your table saw out for a track saw. It’s not something that would suit me, but it seems like from the videos I’ve seen from you, being able to put away your material breakdown equipment when not in use would be a pretty efficient use of space for you.

Hi guys, thanks! Some counties in TN have building codes, and some do not. We live in a county where there are codes. I plan to have two windows in my workshop, on the same wall as the door. The door will be whatever size is needed to fill in the gap. I think it's about 44 inches wide, but not 100% sure. Thanks!

you need to get yourself a cat's paw to pull those nails out. a small one works fine to lift a nail so a hammer can work. Also, if you have to cut a bottom plate again, I suggest a sawzall. the blades are way cheaper if you hit a sheeting nail in your plywood.

seen the doors that where set up as a one and a half , basicly a full door on one end and a verry narrow door on the other end , helps if one door is just too narrow and stops the need to get a realy wide door that needs to be cstom made and loads the hinges a lot more as for the layout : if youre building an "island"in the middle you could put a insert in the middle that you can either cover with a plate or drop in either a small benchsaw and a routermounting plate intoo with a sunken in guiderail setup that you can take off when using the table for putting stuff together or as a workbench in general , that way you still have some sort of a saw/router table kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6WboWZrfJqjhNE kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYLbm3inhLaFpM0 island doesnt need to be huge but having a surface a little longer than the carry-on tablesaw does help (i think you have one of those small tablesaws (or was it a mitersaw) i seem to remember youre wife using it when you did the boys room )
@Samcraftcom3 жыл бұрын
I thought about doors like that too -- pretty cool compromise between the two options. :) I really like the multi-function workbench ideas, too! My current table saw (that I am selling) is a 10" cast iron table top with router plate insert into a side wing. It's just too large for my real needs. I will either get a smaller job site size saw, or track saw with MFT setup of sorts.. still time to figure that out. :) Thanks!
@watahyahknow3 жыл бұрын
@@Samcraftcom thnk the tracksaw is the best allround option for small workshops, basicly because you can cut through full size sheets without having to handle them across the table and possibly scew the sheet while guiding it through the saw , only downside is like i said before that you do need to get down on youre knees and crawl over said sheet on the ground to cut through it as the sheet is just too wide to reach over from either side wich i know isnt all hat eazy when youre eeehr not so skinny as you used to be there might be tracks available for the handmachine youre allready have i know kreg makes a universal one www.kregtool.com/shop/cutting/circular-saw-cutting/accu-cut/KMA2700.html , seen tracks made from thing triplex too just a 4 inch or so wide strip with a smaller strip fitted to the side , then you use that side piece as a guide and saw through the bottom piece , now you have a perfect fitting track that you can butt up against youre markings and saw a perfect straight line through it (as long as the track dont shift ) , takes in way less space too maibe get a bigger chopsaw for the smaller cuts and for the lumber stuff you can put that against the wall in one end of the shop

@Samcraftcom3 жыл бұрын
It's only an overlap that viewers of both channels will see.. which given the channel sizes is very small. To rob one channel of the content would be a disservice to the other's audience. I suggest to just pick a channel to watch the workshop build on if you're interested in it. Otherwise, like you said, it will eventually diverge back into different pathways and subjects. Angela does do things while I work, but between the two of us I am the one with the desire to create videos and do all of the prep work, editing, and management of it. Additionally, we only have one set of "camera gear" for video productions.
