I was thinking it would be easier to run a nailer strip around the bottom to sit the plywood on to keep them all level, bit some nails would be quicker.

Sam You should install some z flashing where the gable pieces meet the wall pieces. it will keep the moister from penetrating the seem. Otherwise looks good.

@@RedBeardedBuilder I'd not heard of Big Stretch caulk before, so had to look it up. It's made by Sashco, my favorite sealant company! I've used their Lexel and Through the Roof on tons of projects and they're great! I'll be picking up some for the upcoming window installs and trim pieces. Thanks for the info!

I'm actually redoing the exterior of our chicken coop with T-111. It's a serious job. The angles for the roof, thank God for angle apps! Moving an electrical box and flood light, cutting out for the windows and chick doors, etc. It's kind of late to be getting this done but it needs to be done and the weather has been cooperating here in the Northeast. T-111 panels are light compared to sheet rock or plywood. I'm 59. I would have done an overhang on the sides. Overhangs are the key.

You and Angela did a pretty good job siding. The only thing missing was the metal strip drip edge that runs along the top of the 4x8s before you attach the top pieces. This keeps rain water from getting in the seam to reduce rotting at the joint and also Keeps water from running down the T 1-11s inside surface. (Mold/rot etc.) Other than that, it looks great.

Something I learned after building a few sheds, now I roll out and paint on all my wood pieces/siding/trim... before installation surprisingly it takes very little time and is easy to touch up when finished. . We have a terrible termite problem here and painting slows them down.

I have that siding on my garage.. where it is bad 15 years later is where the siding is just off the driveway.. water runs off ok but snow piles up (NE Illinois).. I think you will fair better except at your door entrance..

Oh Contrair, when we used OSB for the interior walls of my wood shop, the whole pallet was warped, but looked flat until we cut the binding straps. It was so bad, that Lowe's brought us out a free pallet.

15:20 Scribe a line, but use your circular saw! Factor in the base plate of your circular saw, scribe the line, install a temp 'fence' and then set the depth of your cut to barely cut the siding.

I have been planning on building my 1st shed. If I use this T1-11 is there suggestions on stains or paints to help protect it ? I live in Florida so no insulation plans for me.

Honestly if you can, get the LP SmartSide panel siding. It's OSB and primed on one side. It's MUCH better than this. This stuff DRINKS the paint/stain and isn't as good in my opinion. I could probably easily throw another 8 gallons of paint on the siding and it still not look good enough. :-\

Also I cut my door opening on my shop/shed with a circular saw in my build video. I have since learned that a flush trim but with a bearing works much better for cutting door ways/window openings!

Sam, You should have added flashing between the gable and wall T11 siding. Snap a chalkline on back wall and cut it strait with a circular saw...not the oscillating saw. Nice shed though.

Couldn’t you adjust the cut depth of your circular saw and trim the edge with it? Cutting flush with the frame or a tiny amount shallow and then use the oscillating tool to finish it tight?

When adding the siding you should put a 2x4 at the bottom to rest the siding on. that way you can keep everything level.

Non-Pro tip! When I did my shed, I tacked a 2x4 (3rd hand) to the bottom plate and just sat the panels on top of it. Easy peasy one man job!

Hey Shed Man! I know you've built and worked out of several sheds. I'm looking into building one to move my home office into. I can build up to 150sqft in my county without a permit. What would be your preference on the dimensions for that? 12x12? 10x15? 8x18? I'd use it for desk and workbench work. No wood/metal cutting in here. Thanks!

I would build the 12x12 as it's divisible by 4', which will produce much less waste in material for building. :)

Next time try framing the gable tops out 5/8 inch or the thickness of the siding to allow for an overlap on the bottom sheet. This would negate the need for Z flashing. Just a trick an old friend past on to me when building my storage shed. Great job, be safe.

Hey, I designed it on a website called TinkerCAD then uploaded the 3D file to another website called Shapeways to have it manufactured for me in bronze -- just the tip of it. I then mounted it to the handle of an old screwdriver. :)

As for the bottom edge, couldn't you just set your circular saw to the same depth as your siding thickness and run it along that rather than trying to use the oscillating tool? In an ideal scenario (speaking from someone in the Architecture industry) I'd have installed a trim board along the bottom with a z flashing on that and set the siding sheets on the z flashing... With a building wrap of course. YMMV

overlapped trim is one of the main reasons the bottom of siding rots (moisture/debri trap) ... trim the siding straight and then use z flashing for the correct overlap over the trim. physics is better than chemicals (caulk)

Based on how uneven your siding is, I'd be concerned that either the floor/base is no longer level or that your front and back wall are not plumb. Not something that will be easy to fix at this point (except cosmetically) but something to keep in mind and you're building out the interior.

Should of used flashing on the bottom of siding, also called termite guard. And exterior framing should have 2 by fours 16 inch on center, also some sort of house rap or tar paper as a moisture barrier should of been installed first.
