@dinohansen5074 Жыл бұрын
So, here's my suggestion, Splitsie. When you finally get to collecting people and put them in cryotubes, you build a great big gravity accelerator cannon on your ship. You put each cryotube on a battery and enough artificial mass blocks. Then you fire the cryotubes (with the person inside) at various enemies. It's an instant win.

I know this has been recorded well in advance, but a possible solution to the refining offline/power consumption worries, use an event controller to turn off the refineries if stored power drops below a certain point. Keep a backup reactor isolated from cargo with it's own uranium supply, turn it on when the refineries get turned off by the event controller. Optionally, also have an isolated H2O2 and H2 engine also set to turn on.

I know he isnt a fan .. but solar panels as off server power is a good safety net too

Could even just put the refineries on a timer so that they turn off after 4 hours or so, gives them time to work through some ore offline but doesn't run them until the next log on

Great ideas but both unnecessary when refining uranium. As long as a reactor is on it'll take from the refinery

Splitsie getting found via actual astronavigation at the start of the series is hilarious. Truly these are space engineers you're surrounded by. The way your connector backs up against the ship's hydrogen tank when you destroy it and release massive ice balls is nerve-wracking. I don't know how explosive those are but it could be catastrophic. The ore markers will seemingly sit a certain distance away from the surface of a deposit, but won't strictly default to the center. This is particularly visible with ice lakes or massive ice asteroids, for instance, where the marker will just follow you along the surface of these gargantuan deposits. This is also noticable when mining, as mining too close to the marker will cause it to relocate to somewhere else. I like the exterior of the cockpit. It's got a very industrial, armored look with the angles and the ribbing (something I've always liked about block-building games, that industrial feel you can easily get from such a simple design) and that definitely fits what the ship is, being a self-sufficient factory intended to support dozens of people. I do think maybe you should put back those bridge windows in front of the cockpit; the design just looked nice and would provide you with a bit of extra armor in the event you hit something or something (like a bullet) hits you in that weaker point.
@CirJohn Жыл бұрын
Turn the strength on your connectors to near-zero. The exploding connector is usually caused by the miner being pulled to fast to stop. EDIT: If lag is the issue, you could slide in sideways to the connector to prevent being on a collision course.
@Splitsie Жыл бұрын
It's almost certainly a combo of both things, the latency means I'm seeing the explosions more often than I would in my normal play where I'm usually the host. I should probably do both things, but it'll likely take me a while to get in the habit of turning down the strength of them

I'm not a huge Trekkie, but there's an undeniable logic and practicality to Star Trek design. Separating habitation, industry/engineering, and outboard engines nacelles just makes sense. The trick to keep your drills on without holding down the mouse button should be easily solved if they implement the same system as the hand drill. With the hand drill, double clicking the left or right mouse button keeps the drill running constantly in mining or destructive mode respectively until you click the button again. I'm surprised it isn't actually in the game already. Oh, and the double click method works with hand welders and grinders as well.

The sense of relief and euphoria in Splitsie's voice in the moment he found gold sounds like the closest he's ever been to being drunk without actually drinking alcohol. As in, I've seen the signal for an Iron deposit move around while I'm mining that Iron deposit.

I would recommend if you wanna keep the refineries on after log off, having them chew thru uranium and have one reactor on would give plenty of power for those, and would possibly handle 6 refineries possibly with yield mods on each as well possibly. but maybe drilling a large hole to hide in a large asteroid would help with safety. also, if you wanna stay on hydro, more tanks and cargo for the tons of ice alone.

Aha! Right-click the strength in the control panel of every connector, reducing the mag strength to 0.0002%. They still grab just fine, but your rate of connector-smashing will be GREATLY reduced.

One would think a guy with as many hours in game as you would just automatically change the mag strength on the connector to around .01 so you would stop smashing connectors. Turning the refineries on when offline IS possible if you do decide to make a solar farm. Ive done it before and I made sure that I made more energy from the solar panels than the energy used up by the refineries. If you do decide to do this, use yield module refineries as time in this aspect isn't important! For the people finding your location just by your skybox, I think if you delve into the textures and just rotate or delete the skybox itself, it should basically make it impossible for anyone to find you as they won't have any reference points anymore!
